Update: It has a slightly musty smell - but no evidence of mold inside or out. Could use some airing out.
I ran this through 2 - 20 minuite "low heat" cycles in my dryer with a couple dryer sheets last evening. That did it - no more odor at all!
Also the sleeves wear "longer" than typical...
Cath & release here with a really sharp made in California Gibson & Barnes Police style crosszip - motorcycle jacket. Not heavy, about 5.5 lbs, but well constructed, well broken in, comfortable to wear, just too short for me. There is evidence of patches that have been remove at the uppers of...
Thanks Mendel, it's true this is a great community and such a relief from most of the rest of "cyber-world."
I didn't have any such support as a teen/college student/young adult with regard to hats, jackets, boots, etc. Most people in my small rural community of origin thought anything like...
Trying to wear a new to me Gibson & Barnes. Goatskin, "46" but too short, as photos show. Will be in classifieds this evening for a very cost-effective price. I do really like the 5.5 lbs of goatskin, very comfortable and wearable.
Looking sharp there on you Guppy! And yes, a good jacket toe layer under is essential in the Midwest.
I've been wearing my LW J23 today, perfect for very windy conditions and dropping temps.
Also a good point to me Edward. I have a couple black jackets that I hope will stay at least mostly black. With the Lost Worlds, that is not an issue, it's black, period. The CXL FQHH Indian Ranger - will for now, but we'll see how it ages. Some CXL ages quicker than others. I like break in...
Oops, forgot that - Route 66 without upper chest pocket.
Tusche - yours is really nice!! I had never seeen a Route 66 in the wild until mine arrived, and yours with the shearling lining and fur collar is simply amazing. I also really like the dark brown FQHH on yours as well. I love...
I wondered this as well. Maybe @Carrie @ Thurston Bros. would know, perhaps this was a test jacket for the Sheene model they have now.
Tony that's a good point too, I have found that people often do not recall how "old" a jacket really is, and this could indeed have been from the 2010 - 2013...
*Update* - this is a Route 66 - maybe we should call this the Aero Route 66 Thread.
So I stumbled across this Cordovan "size 44" Aero a week or two back on ebay. Original owner was selling it, with dimensions but rather few details. Apparently is 3-5 years old now.
It is FQHH in Cordovan...
Thanks for the heads up on this. I seem to have enough black jackets, and a new to me Cordovan one, next up may be a brown CXL Steer Or FQHH Ridley or a Sheen (Thurston Brothers) in brow of one of the two leathers mentioned. I for one like the worn-in look (to a point - as long as it's...
