Thanks Eric! I have to admit the photo came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I never knew him to be a hat wearer. I wish I would have had the chance to ask him about it!
My father recently passed away. In going through his personal effects, which has been quite difficult for me, I came across this newspaper photograph of him and short blurb about the beginning of "felt hat season" from the local newspaper from September 14, 1967. Pretty cool. It definitely...
I thought I was the only one that had that issue with vintage Borsalino thin ribbons! It through me "for a loop" as they say! Great looking hat, Tommy!
Love the hat, TJ! I actually prefer silver belly, as it seems to coordinate with most all colors quite well, whereas I find more unique colors don't work for me quite as well.
My 100 in Open Road style has a firm brim (not "stiff" per se) and a relatively soft, very moldable crown. It is very nice, I just prefer the hand of the 7XCB (I have one western and one open road), but it very well could be that my 7XCBs are slightly older than my 100. Can't go wrong with...
IMHO, 1950s Stetson 7XCB > Stetson 100. 1950s Stetson 25 very nice but not on same level as 7XCB. That being said, my 1950s Stetson 20s (Sovereigns) compare very favorable to the 25. I find very little difference in felt quality.
Thanks Perry! It was a blast. Willie's son Lukas was one of the opening acts and he's quite the talent as well. He has Willie's voice. Willie started just before midnight so the old man (82) can still hang! It was a great way to start the new year!
