Ok, what was wrong with this one? It's an Imperial Stetson so I thought it would go for HUGE money. Did I miss something about it that is should of sent up a red flag?

Dumbjaw - beautiful bowler you have there. I would love to see photos of the liner, etc.
and Carter - good idea.
My Stetson "1900 Worlds Fair, Paris" bowler in 7 1/2 LO
Dumbjaw,
I saw that one too and sent an email a couple of days ago trying to get clarification on the size - no response, so I passed. If it was a 7 5/8 someone got a heck of a deal.

Pulled the trigger on this one even though I'm not supposed to buy anymore hats - couldn't help it - supposed to be from the 1930s and it had "the look." Anybody have a Miller Hat from Denver? What do ya'll think? Thanks!
John
Ok, maybe I'm being a little optimistic thinking there are enough of us Nutria hat owners to be a "nation" - "neighborhood" might be more accurate but it doesn't sound as good. I just got my first Nutria hat and the more that I look at it and touch it, the more I'm thinking that it might be the...
Got my Nutria
A couple of photos of the hat with some period accoutrements. Hat is both soft and tough - hard to describe - very comfortable on my head - could become my favorite knock-around hat and also be used for cowboy action matches.
John
I did a search on this without success.
I just got my nutria hat with the liner depicting a cowboy riding a horse. Other Stetsons I've seen show the now famous cowboy kneeling on the ground giving his horse a drink out of his hat - does anyone know the dates these liners were used? Here's...
Terrific hat and story! The backwards bash has me intrigued. Was this common as I've never seen another like this? It would be interesting to see photos of him wearing it this way - hint, hint?
John
Paul,
I appreciate your reply. Your Tom Mix hat sounds interesting - is it "nutria quality" or "clear nutria?" Also, wouldn't your Stetson 100 be 100 percent Beaver?
If you want some place to wear the Tom Mix hat, you could go to a "local" Single Action Shooting Society club shoot and...
Feltfan,
My problem right now is that what I think are "big bucks" and what are in reality "big bucks" is pretty far apart. I got that nutria Stetson today for what I would term big bucks. However, if Carter would have been awake it would have been more or not at all. So, are there hats I...
David,
I didn't think they were that kind of money great but apparently I'm living in the past. The most recent one was a light brown Stetson Royal Deluxe in 7 1/2 witha 2 3/4" brim - it was beautiful! I bid up to $250 and it went for $362, I think. The $250 bid was what I thought would...
The two most recent were 7 1/2 and 7 5/8 - evidently my head tends to swell during certain times of the week making some 7 1/2s a little snug so I go after both sizes. Your size must be a real problem?
Geez - I guess "these people" is "Meese people" in other words me - I just paid $255 for a nutria Stetson! I don't know what happened except that none of my 9 hats are nutria and I was blinded by, as Tortswon so aptly put it, "a shiny object." As Bugs would say - what a Maroon!
John
I guess I should have realized that "these people" could actually be "weese people" on this forum - I need to calm down and just save up if I'm going eventually buy one of those big-headed hats. Thanks for the insights!
John
Who are these people that can spend $350-450 or more for a vintage hat? I have been outbid on several large-size hats recently that have gone into the stratosphere with prices bid. Is this a trend that members of this forum already knew about and I've just been out to lunch on? If so, I'm...
