My Saturday Day Run !
I try to go out early on Saturday mornings and hit the thrift stores for the kind of clothing that I like .
The best part of dressing "vintage " it that the stuff is dirt cheap !
I have some suits that cost me upwards of a $1,000.00 but nothing makes you feel better...
Last night I went to the Cumberland Fest , an outdoor event with the rides and the whole bit to see my son's band play.
I must have gotten between 6 and 9 kodo's throughout the night.
I wore a brown suit with a light yellow shirt, art deco 40's tie and brown wide brimmed fedora.
The kodos...
For me it was while on Ask Andy clothing Forum that OLD SARGE who is also a member of both Forums told me about it and here I am!

I find that very interesting that you feel that way .
I realize that things were not so good in the 1930's for example a mans life expectancy was 58 as compared to today of 72 at minimum and things like that but and a BIG but , I thing things today are really screwed up in so many ways that...
Go back one page here a nice member put up a chart on page 2 here that will show you what year is what . This year would be 1935.

Hello King of Cool and welcome to the Forum. :o
You are with kindred spirits here on this Forum, most of us feel just the way you do.
My adventure started out pretty much the same as yours.
I love swing music , have close to 400 plus c.d.'s and counting.
I started researching some of my...
While I do agree with your statements and you are in fact correct , what bothers me is that when we made things they were of good quality BUT they were also not expensive per say , so where is the trade off.
IMHO we need as a nation to get back to making things for ourselves and stop sending all...
What I should have stated was that now the streets that the trolleys used to run on allow for car parking on both sides of the street PLUS two way traffic and then the trolley tracks would have to be in the middle of the street making it almost impossible and impassable for a trolly to run...
How many of you Forum members are fed up with buying Chinese junk ,when you have to replace something .
I had one of those G.E. chrome toaster's ,you know the ones with the "double loop " design on the sides of it .
You could take a sledge hammer to it , it lasted me for years but the coil...
Related to this Thread but not exactly ,
Here is the question , how many of you have seen a shoeshine stand like they used to have just about everywhere back in the old days .
I was in an airport in Orlando a few weeks back and saw one but it was
"closed "as in there was no shoeshine guy...
I just saw this at Disney about three weeks ago and I loved it !
I think the 1930's part of it was the best although the voice activated oven got a chuckle out of me as the smoke poured out of it.

I don't know about the rest of the Forum members here but I deck out my house with a lot of bunting ,I already have a 20 ft. flagpole in the front yard but I also put a smaller flag on the front porch of the house.
I notice people don't bother to fly "old Glory " like they used to, for example...
Beer Pails
This is related to this topic but not just about the lunch pails ,but this .
Have any of you seen or heard about the "beer pails" they used to use in the old days .
At lunch time the workers would sent a kid for a couple of coins to the closest bar and the bar keep would fill up...
I agree with you on that .
Doesn't that get your goat how they have the gaul to circumvent the system and call it a survey.
I remember a Sienfelt skit where the local newspaper ring's him up and asks him if he would like to take out a subscription and he answers "yes " and them promptly hangs...
My good man you are so right in your observations ,the people on this forum are just plain awesome .
I have been on this Forum for a year and had only one problem ,so I would say that's really good for the internet.
I would almost be temped to say it's because most of us are older ,but as you...
What about vintage sunglasses ?
Also I can't remember what Thread it was in but just very recently there was a female on here that was trying to obtain vintage frames that she could put her PX lens into ,perhaps you can help her out .
