I have a Buzz Tanker (slash pocket) in a 42R. Torso is roomy and fits as labelled (I typically wear a Vintage 44 A-2 or a 46 in more slender patterns).
I'd advise caution with the length though. My Buzz is 'regular' and works well with my usual trousers (Old Town High Rise or Vauxhalls); with...
The USN doesn't look like the same stenciling as the 'flying meatball' on my old Buzz B-10, so while it would probably fade I don't think that it would disappear.
Furthermore, a blend is not always inferior, nor a compromise. I could cite many examples of polymer blends that offer superior qualities to the 'pure' homopolymers.
Opinions are likely to be strongly divided on this one, but I'd opt for BK as the weight of leather and the pattern are more in line with the vintage A-2 jacket.
I'm a recent covert to the Dubow pattern (I have recently bought an older GW 27798 from 2010 in horsehide with dull purple knits) having tried many vintage and GW Perry patterns in goatskin and horsehide, GW Acme (Aero) and Doniger (goat). I love the Perry pattern but it's a little short for my...
I'm not convinced that the style suits you - the jacket looks a size too small when fastened (and the collar disproportionately high as it sits higher on the chest).
I recently picked up a reasonably good one (wool, correct pattern, US made) from EBay for £16 incl. postage. I was keen on a Buzz offering but the price (£50 + pp) was steep.
I find that a slim smartphone such as an iPhone (3GS) will fit alongside the pencil slot (wider/deeper mobiles could fit inside the other pocket, but nothing longer).
I have a propelling pencil that I use if I need it, but a modern wallet with card pockets etc is generally too wide to be...
I'm now wearing a used Buzz N-1 (the regular version) in olive and it's my go to jacket in the cold/wet/windy weather we have in SE England at present.
Very practical and warm - great quality and faded stencil not too obtrusive.
Only thing that I'd add, is to suggest another means of attaching your fob watch - for less dressy occasions/jackets, I often use my late uncle's leather fob (a little like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-vintage-leather-watch-chains-fob-watch-1920s-/181185151045).
Just looks less...
Yes, she's gorgeous.
I have a couple of Old Town waistcoats, a striped tie, a couple of pairs of trousers (High Rise and Vauxhalls) and a Medway jacket, with a Lounge jacket on the way.
I've visited the shop in Holt and the staff are incredibly helpful.
Isn't everything Brian Sewell does an act? No...surely that opinionated nonsense that he spouts isn't serious :eeek:
Ah, but it contains a superb middle 8 on the electric upright bass...
I had a squeaky ELC A-1 in the past - the previous owner had waterproofed it using Pecards or similar (wherever the capeskin rubbed e.g. sleeve on torso it squeaked loudly). I cured it by removing most of the waterproofing using 40-60 petroleum spirit (moistened cotton wool ball).
If you try Old Town (Holt, Norfolk http://www.old-town.co.uk) they have a variety of similarly-styled trousers. I have several pairs: High Rise, Vauxhalls and Dreadnoughts (along with waistcoats and jackets) and I swear by them for everyday wear - extremely well tailored.
