You could try Steve S who posts here. He understands heirloom jackets and I have seen a lot of his alteration and restoration work here and on VLJ which is first class.
I knew a guy once who lived like a Victorian/Edwardian gentleman. Dressed in top hat and tails, or frock coat with all the trimmings. Rode a penny farthing and had a horse and buggy. Used kero and gas lighting in his house. All the furnishings were authentic. He made sone consessions for...
I would say there were more negatives than positives with the code. Improving production standards glossed over the overal lameness of Hollywood with some exceptions. And if ignoring the exploitation and lurid aspect of precode there were far more creative efforts made in that short period than...
The list is surely incomplete. There were dozens and dozens of films from 1933 to early 1934 that would have caused appropriate outrage. Not surprised to see the musical Murder At The Vanities there though. Released just prior to the full enforcement of the production code deliberately to thumb...
I would suggest a black painted zipper as was on the originals. Outwardly this was the only tangible cosmetic difference from M422A's. As for hides a choice of both will be a nice option. As for knits if they are to be red then more of a burgundy colour.
In the link below is the only Good Wear I own. A Security Aviation Togs A-2 which I bought from here about a year ago. I like it because it diverges significantly from my other A-2's whilst still being an A-2. Major differences from typical A-2's are;
Buttons instead of snaps on pockets.
What...
Already on Ebay. No waiting for the frying pan to warm up. Straight into the fire.

Both mine have seperate facing and back mouton panels not overlayed on the leather. All the parts and seams of the jacket that may be subject to the most stress and wear are leather. I don't think it will be a problem for durability as time goes by. I find them very comfortable to wear as they...
With globalisation, international manufacturing, companies will frog leap from country to country as these "developing" countries start to develop. I wonder when this will grind to a halt. Wealthy countries are now like a suburb of a rich city where there are mostly service industries and poor...
Agree with that. My first Avirex B3 started heavy flaking and cracking within a year of purchase and looking dry and crusty. Looked like it was going to fall apart in no time. After leather treatment it stopped and I repeated it every few years with products I have long forgotten. I gave it to...
I have read on the Aero website that they get more mileage out of their leather in their "real deal" A2's because they they can use unmatched and NQR pieces of leather. Making jackets with an expansive one piece back will also create more wastage. I imagine a Grizzly will use less leather...
There was one of those annoying bidders that puts multiple bids towards the end hoping to scare others off. Not only do the push the price up but give a heads up to serious bidders who usually roll over the top of them. An annoying trait appearing on Ebay. Was better when multiple bids were...
Has to be one of the vintage styles like the MTC127913 or MTC127912. These jackets deserve to have a proper name. Befitting the name of an ancient Greek God or mythical location. How about yours?
Feel the same. Great jackets, colourful but clumsy website. No detailed descriptions of individual products, options etc and not much helpful ordering /buying information other than basic contact details.
For something a little different and perhaps more luxurious, Aero have a Harris Tweed lining in a red tartan pattern. See link

That kind of damage though minor would be hard to prove that it was a pre existing fault. Could be a variety of causes. I once tore a V shaped gash on the shoulder of an A2 jacket and never found out how it happened. By appearance it looked like I brushed against something hard and sharp...
I have only had an old suede jacket dry cleaned and it came out wonderful. No problems. Got rid of some grubby staining and smells, smoothed out the the wrinkled lining and freshened up the brushed surface.
