What I like about my big ones is being asked, mostly by children, whether I am an artist.
What I dont like is explaining, to adults, that I am not wearing a beret but a "Baskenmütze" (basque cap).
Hello Daan
I take your word for it, because if it really gets cold, I wont wear either. Ears and neck need the protection of a woolen cap. :)
To add to the way these berets "feel" on the head, 150 anos is softer to the skin, so sebsitive people might prefer it. Tthe stiffnes of the Super Lujo...
I am interested, too.
Up until now, my spanish 150 anos and Super Lujo beat the french ones ( chasseur tartes, dress and field version) in every aspect:
denser wool, not so sloppy, fit all heads (the french dont even get the sizes right)
Thank god we have Boinas Elosegui!
Still sitting on the fence re the winter tarte from Beatex-Laulherre. If the Euro wouldnt be so bloody weak!
Its the only one still missing in my collection.
And how do they wear their berets?
Pulled down with the rim outwards, what seems do be the female style (I have until now only seen one man to do so)?
Or the male way? Any angle, s long as its more ore less flat on the head?
Daan, how stiff is this winter version compared to the dress version and the officers one?
I ask because the two I already own are a bit too floppy IMO (compared to my all-time favourite, the BE Super Lujo).
And I am still not sure which size to choose. A 60 on my 61-head ist still not so...

Some data of all my basque berets with short notes on the material. Comments on the models will follow.
Castilla
-Cotton 99gr/29cm, stiffer than the TT
Tolosa Tupida
-Cotton 98gr/30cm, floppier than the Castilla
-Plato Grande Merino 12" 86gr/30cm, very soft, smooth surface, most lightweight...
Slightly OT, but this is the location of the picture showing me wearing a big basque beret in post no. 566. Lots of pictures from my brother showing a beautiful castle.

But there is the the "beret" and the "basque beret", which makes all the difference in the world.
The former, without the txortena (the fuse on top, shorn off in most militray style berets), with it outwards worn rim (with leather headband) and the special style it is worn from the military...
None!
The only good thing in ordering within the EU is the lack of the customs-procedure.
I order photographic equipment from China and get it within a week. A beret from NZ takes 3 weeks with invoice and six weeks without. Of course, not your fault, Dan, but this is ridiculous.
No pre-defined size, no headband, no lining.

These are with lining, headband and come in sizes. Otherwise they seem to be the same...
