Understood! Anyway, my 6 year old son, just recently declared in such a way that only children can, that he's going to own the jacket "after you're dead, dad," so I guess that settles the matter ;)
I suppose if I ever decide to sell it, as it's a relatively unique build, I might ask Greg to verify/certify that it's his work :) Is that something that I should do sooner than later? I suppose it might bump the value for those who are in the know about such things?
I had to read this twice to make sure I was in the right thread, and I still don't understand :) How do you know who made it? And why would it be a collectors item? To be honest, I only recall a tag on my Shackleton vest, but I don't recall one on my GFs or my jacket! I'll check amongst my...
It's a bit of both ;) Although the jacket, because it's like a "second skin," does make me look fatter than I actually am :D Happily, in the summer, I can usually wear it unzipped!
I will always accept the truth ;) Aye, the stone might have something to do with it :D Will send picks when I get it off, at the height of "pints every day because I work from home quarantine," I was *more* than a stone heavier :D But yes, wearing a new jacket every day is the way to go--in some...
The back does feel "baggy," i.e., the jacket pattern feels like an extreme triangle. You'll notice the creases around the chest area since the armpits are lower than my actual armpits, which makes for folds; likewise, the back is tight at the bottom (less so 1 stone of weight ago ;) ), and baggy...
Howdy,
I got this jacket hoping not to have to buy another Aero right now, but although it fits perfectly (I think!), it's lined too warmly for me, and I'm going to go in debt and get an Aero anyway :D
£75 OBO
Only worn twice, once to try size, second time to take these photos. Comes with...
Howdy folks,
So almost exactly a year after I got it, and having worn the jacket almost every day during the past year, including sleeping in it 2-3 times, here's the "aged" Mongrel! As you can see, I've a quarantine beard now, and added maybe a stone to my weight during said quarantine, too :D...
I continue to consider the Aeromarine--it never quite makes my top 2, but every time I see it, I'm surprised anew by how much I like it. In fact, I'm going to check it out again now :)
Well, I want a short light jacket in leather, and the last short jacket that I liked was the Ike, but Aero won't make me one--and before the Ike, I did the Type III for a decade or so, and Aero makes a Type III. It feels like the closest "off the rack"-ish short leather jacket that I want :D...
I'm still debating the question--I love the front, but the back! I don't know...but you're right, it feels like an everything jacket. If I don't get it now, it will be my long-term next jacket buy for sure.
I've been meaning to for a while, and I've worn it almost every day for a year, but recently, the weather has been poor--as soon as the sun is out and I have someone to take photos, will do!
Really, the unifying factor for me is the Ike jacket, i.e., a short jacket, ideally with lapels but not...
Howdy folks,
Some of you might remember me from the "mongrel" custom J-106 I posted last year in Natural CXL. I love the jacket, it's broken in beautifully, but now I'm looking for a lighter, short, jacket in light brown. I asked Aero if they would make a custom Ike, AKA, Battledress jacket...
Selling for 350 gbp starting bid on eBay, buy now for 500gbp, if you or any ladies that you know need such a jacket for the summer fall: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224087967839 !
@Monitor , ahh, you mean with the "on pocket" vs "not on pocket" stitching? Yeah, I'm still debating myself--so far, I'm inclined to have mine with stitching. Will post if I bring the design to life!
Do you have a photo example of the other pockets? I’m a week or two away from pulling the trigger on a battered tan, olive drab drill lining, fireside label, hand warmer, and inside blazer pockets version!
I'm considering getting the jean jacket in battered tan--can you comment on your experience with this jacket/the build specifications? Specifically, how much did the hand warmer pockets set you back, do you prefer the V stitching under (as in your jacket) or over (as in variants of the jacket)...
