I agree. Generally, when I've tried to do 'stuff' to jackets - hotwatertreatment or whatever - the results are always a little so-so. I think with a jacket like this, it's best just to let the jacket develop its character in its own time. I did see the Epaulet vids that show the ones they...
Jay,
I was so frustrated after reading his email that I decided to try the hotwatertreatment, followed by an hour in the dryer on high, to see if I could shrink the jacket myself. Believe it or not this worked magnificently and the jacket shrunk down to almost precisely the size I wanted it...
Denim is a sturdy, cotton warp-faced textile, in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. The most common denim is indigo denim, in which the warp thread is dyed, while the weft thread is left white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the textile is dominated...
I love the jacket, and what i should have been looking for was the warm watertreatment or hand-hot . Found it in the repro irvin thread. Just damping the inside shearling to let it curl tighter.
Then I'll be able to move my arms again 8)
If you are seriously thinking about buying I would hold out for a 44 in this one if I were you. It’s a good looking jacket, but the 46 doesn’t fit you nearly as well as any of the other jackets I’ve seen you post on these pages.
...out why?...the sleeves and sleeve opening are way big also. I really like it though and I’m gonna keep it.
Anyone know if a hotwatertreatment will tighten up chrome tanned leather? If yes, Me and this jacket will be showering together soon.
The leather is really interesting with...
I don’t think it will work on sheepskins. It’s usually used on steer and horse hides and on these it’s never an exact science - there are sometimes problems such as wrinkly zippers uneven shrinkage shrinking lining etc.
If you search TFL you’ll find lots of threads on it - here’s one from 2012...
Italian troops fleeing in disorder thru western Europe are converging on a death trap at Sollum, it was reported today. Dispatches indicate tens of thousands of men may soon be hopelessly trapped. Although officials continue their customary reticence, the British victory in Egypt is assuming...
Reminds me of how my 48” Ryder fit. Inspire of the numbers being right down to spec. This fits you better than mine fit me though. Maybe even just a bit trimmed out of the sleeve diameter would go a long way.
Why didn’t I see that on the ‘Bay!?!? I’d have also snatched it up! You don’t see these big sizes very often.
Looks like a great “chore” coat kinda garment, something to just throw on over a sweater or fleece and battle the elements rather than a form-fitting cafe racer kind of jacket.
For goatskin only HWT is unacceptable treatment, cold water is quite O'k.
I don't like the idea of putting any kind of leather in washing mashine though, 'cause the leather won't have any shine at all after that procedures. I don't like it.
My humple opinion - washing mashine (with cold water...
Ever since this story started, I've been confused at exactly how the dentist got involved in this. Okay, I get that he's been extorting money from doctors who performed abortions by blackmailing them with exposure. But how did he get into this? How did he identify his victims? Does his being a...
...of all, the best ways to fit a jacket. There's no way this purchase would've been successful without you all
I think I'll do the hotwatertreatment on the collar
If I'm being nitpicky, these are the changes I'd make: august collar instead of highwayman collar, pointed back yoke instead of...
An investigation of the participation by members of the New York Police Department in the Christian Front and other subversive organizations has been launched by Commissioner Lewis J. Valentine, with all 20,000 members of the Department, and all civilian department employees, required to fill in...
I did the HotWaterTreatment to a US Authentic jacket in Goat. It uniformly shrank about 5% on every dimension, just like your experience. This made the jacket fit much better, and didn’t seem to hurt the leather or lining.
I never thought of the clear shoe polish, but your jacket looks very nice!
Sure, you can dip the cuffs, collar and other aeras in hotwater, but I believe you may see some “ border lines or differences” inbetween treated and not.
