    I did the Hot Water Treatment to a US Authentic jacket in Goat. It uniformly shrank about 5% on every dimension, just like your experience. This made the jacket fit much better, and didn’t seem to hurt the leather or lining. I never thought of the clear shoe polish, but your jacket looks very nice!
