My old issues of Antiques magazine are full of Colonial era furniture, silver (teapots, spoons) brass (candlesticks), knife boxes, and Chinese export porcelain, all of it pre 1820 or so. Mostly 17th and 18th century items.

The 20th century saw dramatic changes in fashion for women.
Rereading that sentence, “dramatic” feels like too silly a word to use; comparing a dress from 1900 to one of the 1960s feels much more like witnessing the arrival of an entirely new species.
Along the way...
I'm packing and moving from my 1920's Craftsman to an all new place with one fewer bedroom and no basement. It's much nicer--everything works! (and will actually save money to live there)
But getting rid of stuff quickly is pretty sad. I'm selling off furniture at token prices and earmarking...

Rockabilly—Goth—Vintage—Burlesque--Pinup.
It’s a path we’ve heard outlined many times over in The Fedora Lounge forums. The 21st century explosion of mid-20th century pinup style can easily be seen via several social media platforms, most notably Instagram.
The sheer effort...
I'm personally elated (and more than a little relieved) to see the much cleaner look. Nathan has been working very hard on this development for months.
You're only seeing minor tweaks at this point. What is coming is a major redo, which as of this writing isn't yet visible. I've seen it and like it very much. Easy functionality, and you can quickly change viewing prefs.

I tried it several times and couldn't get past about three chapters. Gaiman is a magnificent writer, but I never like his stories, save for Coraline.
I'm halfway through Disobedience, by Naomi Alderman. A same sex relationship tucked into a super conservative Orthodox Jewish community in...
We learn, over time, to recognize what isn't working in a relationship, and get a pretty good handle on what can be fixed and what is just a matter of points of incompatibility that can't be fixed. Big lessons for me.
And then you find yourself in a relationship that really works, and with a...
I love reading about everyone's work here!
My weekly column has been published in four regional newspapers for the past several years, along with several features each week. I know it's old hat to say, but very true: the more you write, the easier it becomes. I used to struggle with column...
Yes, the tie and button setup would be more authentic, but also more difficult to size, more difficult to wear, and problematic to launder (The strings kept pulling out of the ones I gave up on wearing ages ago).
This proposes a nice compromise.
