"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Yes. Poor Betty is the middle wife who can't hold a candle to either Anna or Megan for either Don or, it seems, her own kids. For all Don's failings, he was good to and loved by Anna and is good to and loved by his kids and Megan. Betty just does not have that ability.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Well, what does everyone think? We saw Betty again last night, and I felt so bad for her then wanted to slap her. Roger seems lost (LOVED the comment to Burt at the beginning about "Sterling, Campbell, Draper, Price"!); Don is trying hard to deal with work and home (sometimes well, sometimes...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

It couldn't be in better hands, Lizzie! I'm sure we'd all LOVE to see a photo of you in it, when you get a chance!

sick and tired of new scrap appliances.

Actually that's a good point. Quality doesn't necessarily equal a number of bells and whistles. I tell you, when my electric car window died (two year old car!), I was missing the old hand crank windows real bad! I think a KitchenAid stand mixer....even a new one.... Is a good example. Same old...

sick and tired of new scrap appliances.

^ ain't that the truth! I am in need of a coffee grinder since my 5 year old one broke. I'm holding out for an old one to turn up at an estate sale. I will have that one until the day I die and leave it for someone else to pick up at my estate sale!

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Yes poor Sally! But I really liked the little connection between Sally and Megan, both in the shared shopping experience and the dealing with the "dirty" men in their lives. Also liked the detail of Megan having to explain to Don why her father's crying to the grad student was wrong. Don still...

    The 1940 USA Census

That's wonderful! The real boy named Sue! Interestingly, my grandmother, on the 1910 census (age 3) was listed as a son. An uncle on the other side of the family, whose name was Emory, got listed as a daughter, Emily. So you do have to be careful and check census records against each other...

    The 1940 USA Census

My grandmother had a male name as well. And WB Yeats' wife's name was George.

You guys are making fun, but I think that razor is just beautiful! I'm always amazed at the amount of design that used to go into even the most utilitarian things. It's like things were *supposed* to be kept and treasured. Gee what's that like?

Oh that is upsetting. That is one fine brand. At least it has been in the past. My pieces are indestructible.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Faye IS still out there somewhere. As are a couple other, shall we say, slightly more mature old flames. I wouldn't put ANYTHING past Weiner. I just can't wait to see what it is!

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

The fight was hysterical. I loved the other three just watching! The kiss was interesting. Hmmm. We will see if that goes anywhere! Don's love for Megan was explored on a few levels. The "Whitman" connection (U Texas) was a fascinating touch (although surely Pete remembers Don's real...

    Homecare & Cooking books.

I collect such books, including vintage etiquette and health/beauty books. My favorite old cookbooks are the little advertising pamphlet books, especially one I have from the 30s for cakes by Swan's Down cake flour. Also, I just picked up The Lily Wallace New American Cook Book. I love the...

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

The reference was to George Romney, father of Mitt, a prominent republican. He ran for president ( well the R nomination anyway) in 1968.
