The subject of this discussion is actually why I finally joined the lounge. I have an older A2 that I discovered in the closet had some serious mold due to the high humidity here in France. I followed all the advice I discovered here and got the leather cleaned up nicely. But the liner... eesh...
Some people just have a look that works. There's a guy we fly with who can wear, and pull-off, an ascot tie. He looks great in one too! If I wore one I'd probably get beat up.
Me and a French pilot did a side-by-side comparison between the G&B model and the real thing. The G&B is made of a noticeably superior leather and zipper, the issued Armeé de l'air jacket has an oval shaped sleeve pocket. Other than that G&B hit it pretty close.

Not going to hijack the thread but check out JBMilart.com for your patch. Jim did a time worn leather version of the 586th bombardment squadron for me and it came out very nice, and it's on one of my Cooper jackets!
