I feel your pain Ikalliance. Took me months to decide between a US Wings, Cockpit and Gibson Barnes G1. Ended up plumbing for the G & B after talking it through with their really prompt and helpful customer service. Now I just have to wait until the beginning of April to get my hands on it!
Hi Ikalliance,
I was in the same boat as you a few weeks back and did a heap of research on this forum into particularly G1 jacket. Apparently the bi-swing back of the jacket is designed that way so that it provided more movement in a cramped cockpit and also allowed pilots who came down in...
Hi Cody,
Would be interested in seeing your photos (maybe a couple of you wearing it?) and maybe an overview on how you find the jacket. US-W seem to have a bit of a mixed reputation on this site, so of the fellas swear by them and some cant return them quick enough.
US-W was one of the...
Hi Fanch,
thanks for all your imput and assistance with the G & B dialemma. This might be a bit of a stupid question but with the pit to pit measurement, is as simple as doubling that measurement to get the total chest circumfrence measurement? The reason I ask is because I have a Schotts Cafe...
Yes, I think Im just going to have to stop bumping my gums and take the plunge Thor, been sitting on this too long. The only problem is Im in Australia and returns can be expensive.
Cheers
Garry
Hello Gents and thanks for all the responses. I have contacted G & B and they have provided the dimentions for their 42 tall and 44 tall M422a jackets.
Now, I'm 6'3, 43 inch chest and weigh in at 102Kg (224Lbs). The dimentions of their jackets are as follows:-
Size 42T - Chest 54", waist...
Thanks for all the reponses gents. I think I will hang my hat on a G & B M422a or G1. The only think that worries me is the sizing. I live in Australia and ordering the wrong size can be fairly costly. I am a fairly large built 6'3 with and am a rack 42 or 44 jacket, should I go the 42 bearing...
Hello all,
Looks like need for more leather is arising again so i'm in the market for a new jacket and it looks like an M422a or a G1 fits the bill. F
Having has a look around I have narrowed it down to two manufacturers and I'm wondering if any of you guys have any recent experience of...
In no particular order. Avro Lancaster, Supermarine Spitfire MK IX and the Hawker Typhoon 1B and the Hurricane.
Can anyone confirm the the stories about Lancasters meeting B17's in the air? Apparently it was a bit of a Lancaster trick on meeting a B17 in the air to pull along side, wave to...
Hello all,
Just a quick question regarding proofing the shoulder seams on my Barbour International. I have had the jacket for about 8 months so it doesnt need re-waxing however there is a bit of leakage at the shoulders in heavy rain. Any suggestions of how to remedy this?
Many thanks...
Sounds like an interesting film but can some of you have a chat with your film makers and see if they will make a one from Bomber Commands perspective, those brave men are in danger of being forgotten.

That's disappointing WDW, I've bought a black International and intended to bring it home to Sunny Leith in October with me. As 6'3, 43 year old man, am I going to be shunned and sniggered at in the ale houses of The Shore?

Hello gents,
After recently posting about how to age my ALC Irvin, I've had a bit of a think about what I want to do and have decided to sell the ALC and purchase a different make of jacket. Dipping the ALC seemed too much of a risk for a $900 jacket and aside from that its probably still too...
AVIATION LEATHERCRAFT IRVIN
Size 42 Long
Im selling my next to new Aviation Leathercraft Irvin to fund another jacket purchase. The jacket is 12 months old and has barely been worn.
The hide is in mint condition with zero wear and tear and the interior is a rich honey colour again...
Hi Smithy. Yep I think your right and it's time to cut my losses. I'm just out side of Ballarat so i thought i might use it but i have had the ALC Irvin for about a year and hardly worn it. It's just to big and bulky plus I am Scottish so have a fairly good tolerance for cold anyway. I don't...
Also Plumbline, how did the weight and bulk of WPG Irvin compare with te ALC? I live in Victoria which can be pretty cold in the winter so I think I would get more use out of it if it was a little lighter in bulk and insulation. What's your opinion?
Thanks for the responses guys. I will PM Soren and see if he can give me some pointers and answer a few questions about how the jacket turns out. My main issues are the fluffiness of the fur and the bulk of the jacket. I assume the there would be less bulk when the fur tamps down?
