My Jonathan Richard Newsboy. Made in Ireland. Purchased in Seattle. Paired with a wool travel blazer sporting scrimshaw walrus ivory buttons
Just the thing for a sunny spring afternoon in an Alaskan fishing port.
My first thought. But she did help me pick out most of it and has always complimented me on my attire. BTW we have been married 16 years this month. I really do not think this is the case but she may be imagining the allergy thing. She has asthmatic tendencies so I thought it might be dust or...
Sea boots, Grunden's foul weather pants and coat over Smartwool longies and a Brooks Bros flannel shirt, topped with a New Era LA Dodgers cap (The coat has a hood)
OK, it's not vintage but it is warm and dry and I am in Petersburg, AK:D
Priorities.
Not me.
It's my wife. She has recently decided that she is allergic to wool. Every time I put on a wool sweater she starts to wheeze and sneeze. This is a real problem for me because 1) we are spending the winter in Alaska, and 2) a couple of years ago I got rid of most of my Patagonia...
I just received the new Fedora Lounge Newsletter (Very cool, IMO.) and was reminded that it has been a while since I have visited. We are sailing to Hawaii in a few days so I won't be able to frequent the forums for at least a month but I will be looking forward to checking in again as soon as...
I sent my Resistol to Texas Hatters for a new sweatband and liner, plus cleaning and reblocking. I was very pleased with the results and service. BTW, I was in Seattle at the time so just as far as you.
The only downside to our lifestyle is that it precludes a really great collection of hats. I am pretty much limited to the one good lid. I have a Pendleton wool fedora, a nice Irish newsboy and a captain's cap (Of course) and a couple of fitted baseball caps, but that is it.
Otherwise, life...
$11 on ebay, the original tags said "Hand creased" style:"Dalworth" color: "Canyon" price" $20 It came in the original box which was in pretty rough condition. After wearing it for a few months, I had it refurbished by Texas Hatters - mainly because the sweatband had disintegrated while I was...
This is a bit late so apologies for that to David and Joella.
After wearing it for a season, the sweatband in my $11 ebay Resistol disintegrated. I sent the hat to TH for a cleaning and reblock and a new sweatband and liner. When I got it back, it was too big for me. It had been a bit loose...
I served in the US Army from 1966 to 1980 (The horrible ugly baseball-type cap era) Actually from the tail end of the "Castro" cap days.
After the US Army Special Forces became popularly known as "Green Berets", Rangers, who felt equally special, adopted the black beret and some airborne...
Thanks Art. I'm new in town (Here in Seattle) and only staying here for a few months and didn't know about them being close by. I'll definitely check them out.
Does anyone have any experience with Texas Hatters? I have been contemplating ordering a custom hat from them for some time. My immediate need is for repairs to my Resistol OR clone - new sweat band. TH quoted me $20 for a new leather sweat band installed. I have no idea what the going rate...
I have the same issue
The Resistol OR clone I bought last summer has rotten stitching on the sweat band. I have decided to have it replaced. Has anyone used Texas Hatters for repairs or have any other experience with this vendor? Any recommendations? TH (First place I've checked) quoted me...
