I didn't see a thread running where this would fit but I wanted to share with my fellow loungers. This is where I've been living the past few years. The town hasn't changed all that much but fashions certainly have.
Yes. Mitkof Island. We'll be staying another winter :cool: But we have to get down to Port Townsend to finish the boat rebuild in the spring. After that, I think a year or three in the tropics is in order; subject to approval of the First Mate. :rolleyes:
Speaking of avatars, and bucket lists; Gardener McKay's Adventures in Paradise inspired me as a twelve year old. Gardener himself renewed the inspiration when I met him on the beach in Kailua thirty years later. (Insert long story about Gardner McKay, ex girlfriends and car dealers in Honolulu...
I lived in Honolulu for thirty years. The Montechristi in my avatar came from Newt's. The hat band is a hand made Hawaiian feather lei made for me by my then girlfriend, Kamakaokalani Smith.
Working on the boat. While fitting a new deck beam, a four foot piece of solid Sapele, I ducked down to reach for a tool and it fell on my head. It just goes to show that pouring money into it isn't enough. She demanded blood. There was a frightening amount of it too.
Had I made a comment like that to an adult when I was a child I would have gotten slapped. Of course, it was a very different time. Most men wore hats and parents taught their kids manners.
