And finally Webley Mk I .455 self-loading. Looks like the 38acp accept it's bigger. .455 auto cartridge looks a lot like 45acp but they don't interchange. Cartridge is next to impossible to find. Here with WWI trench knife and Pith helmet. Ok, so you wouldn't see such a combo on the...
Thanks Mike. It's a favorite of mine too.
Also obtained recently is a Cogswell and Harrison double rifle in 375 flanged caliber. Dates to pre-1930s.

Webley 1907 25acp. Remarkably accurate at 7 yards or less considering the cartridge and the fact it has no sights. Made about 50,000 and they were very popular with the gentry of the time. Carried in the vest pocket to handle any ruffians after the theater or opera.

Webley 38 automatic. Shoots 38acp - same as the 1902 and 1903 Colt Hammer autos. They only made about 900 of these. Popular with some officers in the Great War including Field Marshall Haig. Sold by the Birmingham Gun Guild to unknown in 1914. I'd like to think it went to France with an...
Been busy of late. Colt model 1905 in 45 acp but not the 45 acp you shoot in your 1911. Colt's first 45 cal handgun - they only made around 6000. This one went to the Copper Queen Mine in Arizona in 1907. Was period engraved at some point as well.

Ok, well I've done some reading on the forum (something I should do first) and apparently my L.L. Bean flight jacket is a none-to-accurate fascimille of the real thing. So worrying about the zipper and how old it is seems a waste of time. I got it for a fraction of what Bean is selling them...
I thought the jacket I bought was 1970-1980 but it has a Talon zipper. I can't find any info here but didn't Talon go out of business in the 1960s? Either way, can clothing be dated based on the style or look of the Talon zipper? Thanks!

Ok, I did a little more research. This company was in existence from 1919 to 1974 in NYC and 1933-1965 in rochester NY. Also, the union label looks like the one for 1949-1962 so that's as close as I can narrow down the date of manufacturer right now.
Found a nice heavy dark blue overcoat for $20 that has a tag on it with Kashmiran on it and there is some info on the www suggests it was patented by These guys in 1941. The coat is nicer looking and feeling than my wool and cashmere overcoat and looks to be 1950s. It has a union tag but all...
Wore it a while ago but didn't download until today - sorry the first photo is a little blurry but the hat matches a rust color in the jacket as do the pants with a dark brown. The shoes, jacket, and tie also match color-wise. Fairly happy with the look.
