As I wrote, I will not replace the sweat, so that's not an option. Resewing the sweat may be an option and wearing it without doing anything to it is an option. The latter would involve (gasp) wearing it out of the house even. What's interesting about the stitching is that the part that is...
I appreciate the replies! I'll see what I can do but, like I wrote, I think it is wearable as is if I take some simple precautions like don't jerk the hat off my head too fast. On another note, do these numbers mean anything to the forum or is this a Stetson need to know only kind of numbering...
Well I got my Stetson model - The Motor - Feather Weight - and it fits! Here's the ebay ad:
Contrary to what we thought the sweatband is in pretty good shape - only one very small tear on an edge and some scuffing but, by and large, very sound and very soft and maleable. Some idiot...
In the 45acp I prefer the Smith over the Colt but as Deacon said I think it is personal preference. As an alternative, I would rather have a S&W HD in 44 special over either of them. I have a second model right now and I would love to have a Triple Lock.
I just discovered Black Butte Porter made by Deschutes in Oregon. Man what a delicious beer! Chocolate and coffee notes and smoo.........ooth. Perfect with a maduro cigar.

I don't see myself restoring "The Motor." I was thinking more of a stabilization. If it will significantly change or damage the historical nature of the hat then I won't do it. Having said that and within those parameters, I will do everything that I can so that I can wear the hat...
Ok, so three of these known. And "The Motor" is the model like the Imperial, the Royal, etc.? Is the consensus that these really date to late 1920s-early 1930s? Also, how would treat/preserve the sweatband? Thanks!
My second tattoo - 76 hours old - a tribute to my father-in-law who went to Okinawa with the 6th Marine Division during WWII as an 17 year old kid and survived. Well, for the most part. It reminds me of the sacrifices he (and thousands of others) made back then and also to look at my seemingly...
Thanks Lefty! I was wondering how many others out there had this particular liner. ScottF's hat could be a duplicate of mine in terms of color and style.
Thanks Lefty! Alot of good info and photos too of embroidered classic Stetson last drop of water but none of a rider like mine that I could find. I'm dating this to the mid-late 1940s. Is that about right?
