A very nice, pre - 2000 Vanson Mark II Cobra that I purchased from the original owner a couple years back via ebay. Nicely broken in, true heavy-weight, old-school Competition Weight cowhide that has broken in as a very soft, comfortable, grainy reality that still would protect very well should...
Catch & release on this fun, interesting Vanson Star leather jacket. It's been cool revisiting this style, however I am ready to move it on, I have my eyes on something else so this and a couple others need to go. See the full review here...
Late to this party -- really sorry this occurred!
This was something I thought about with the half-belt I saw in the antique shop recently. Very, very dry...
Interesting discussion indeed here.
I have a personal example of being a bit "burned" and it came - suprise suprise, from a newcomer who joined this forum only for the intention of selling a jacket. My jacket to be specific. He only posted 2 times - and those would be in this thread...
Sorry this didn't work out for you! MotionDesign was right on point with payment, details etc. and was great to work with. The jacket is a great older CHP...
Ha! Thanks Monitor - I did something rather similar this evening. I went to Home Depot with this on over a hooded sweatshirt, un-zipped. Didn't even think it would fit that way but it did. No odd comments, or even stares. It's kind-of fun to wear, and I plan to wear it occasionally to gym...
This is a thread I promised myself I would do someday, if I ever got my hands on a Vanson Star Jacket again.
Turns out that occurred recently, and it's been a fun, but abrupt reminder of why this style of jacket simply does not work with my body type, at least at this time in my life.
But...
I owned one very similar to the one you listed.
I found the leather to be very simlar to Fox Creek - and kind of "spongy" of feel. "Naked cownhide" i believe is the term. Otherwise it was nice but too large overall for me so I moved it along.
I hope it loosens up for you, to me that's a "sausage casing"...
If you like that fit, so be it, but I could not and will not try it anymore.
Other than being overly snug, it looks good. I do suspect you'll be putting a different zipper in it soon.
I specced up an ILLINI jacket in honor of University of Illinois, and kept the body as Indigo Raw Denim, wtih Orange leather sleeves & Dark Blue leather for the collar, and it seemed to come together quite nicely. Really a neat website & idea here.
Not sure what this is, it's in an Antique shop in Clinton, Ia.

Will not fit me - but never heard of "Sport Jack" -
Tag states Front Quarter Horse Hide, looks pretty dry to me.
They are asking $125 for it.
