One other thing I have in my garden is a Rhubarb plant. My grandmother set that plant out well over 60 years ago. It's still going strong after all this time. She dug the roots from her sister-in-law's garden, so there's really no telling just how old that plant is.
If I did drive in's or such, I'm sure I'd want to have some nice wide whitewalls. However, for the use I have for my old car these "modern" tires are just fine. And, did I say, the price was right. :)
This year's garden is coming along nicely, if I can keep the deer out. I usually have more coming along by now, but we had a cooler than usual Spring and everything is a bit behind.
I've got a good Irish potato crop growing, as well as squash, beans, corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers...
Goodyear 215/70R15. That size is about like the ones that were on the car before. I paid a little less than $70 each. I know they aren't "period" tires, but the price was right and they look good on the car.
My wobble problem was solved with four new tires. The right rear tire was coming apart (I have no idea how long that set of tires were on the car). With the new tires, everything is back like it should.
Four new tires on the old '48 Plymouth and the low speed wobble problem is gone. I limped the car in to the tire store this morning (didn't think I was going to make it a couple times), and by this afternoon I'm back on the road running like a scalded dog.
I think I may have found the source of my wobble problem. Without giving the tires a real close up inspection, I don't think I would have noticed this until it was really too late. Looks like a new set of tires are my next investment.
I just got back from doing a little "experimenting" with the wobble issue on my '48 Plymouth. I discovered I was wrong about it stopping once the car had sufficiently warmed up and had been driven for several miles. Previously, the wobble problem was noticed when I started the car and pulled...
Just put new transmission and motor mounts in a couple months ago (old ones were completely shot). Don't think that could be the problem. If it didn't wobble with the old ones I can't imagine it would with the new ones, even if something had gone wrong with the new ones.
Thanks for all the ideas. What has me puzzled is the wobble starts when I first drive the car, but will only last for a couple hundred yards. After that, no wobble. And, after I've driven it a while, then stop for a time (like to eat at a restaurant), get back in and start out again, no...
Something new has started with my '48 Plymouth. When starting out, the car wobbles like one of the tires are out of round. After just a short distance and after up to speed, the wobble disappears. Once the car has warmed up, no more wobble even at low speeds. There is no shimmy or vibration...
After working outside all day, I got cleaned up a bit, drove my old '48 Plymouth over to the Lake Club and had supper, and then came home to sit out in the yard and finish winding down. The hat I'm wearing is a very inexpensive "Panama" I got a couple years ago. I think I paid less than $20...
I watch him like a hawk. When my daughter (the mother of my little grandson) was three or four years old, she decided to paint our relatively new '86 Pontiac. My wife caught her, but not before she had painted a two foot swath on the right front finder. We wiped it off as best we could, but...
