On inspection the cuffs felt scratchy due to the way the stiff cotton lining had puckered around the hem, in the way that the hem of a pair of chain sticked jeans do. I wonder if they could finish the cuff like this:
My favourite jacket I measure 27.5 length in the back. I measured the position of the hand warmers on that one, which begin 3.5-4 inches lower on the torso. They're narrower, though, and end 1.5 inches closer to the hem. I guess if this Cafe Racer was longer to match my own proportions, it'd...
So the arm thing, the inability to reach your head or into any pocket of the jacket, that's pretty normal at first?
I'll need the assistance of my other half for some fit pics, which I think will have to be tomorrow. I don't think selfies in the bedroom mirror is the way to go! haha!
Oh...
I received my fit jacket, which looks fantastic but doesn't fit me quite perfectly. It came in black CXL Steerhide, and man is it heavy! Smelt great too, by the way. Here's my thoughts/fit issues this lunchtime:
1, The jacket when zipped falls just above my belt buckle, with mid-rise jeans...
The shoulders are too wide and don't fit well. As someone else said, without the shoulders being extra wide the sleeves would be too short. Very odd. Otherwise I liked the first front-on picture.
That's some incredible damage there.
Forget going through the washing machine, that looks like it's been through a cement mixer...
If the rest of the jacket is fine, personally I would change the collar.
That's good, I'll go and check out your old thread later. :) I figured I'd still get the fit jacket, as I can't confirm when I'll be able to go up to the factory, and it does get the ball rolling.
I'll have a fit jacket to play with soon, and I'll likely visit, so I can get a feel for the product personally. Ideally I'll find the hand warmer pockets acceptably comfy with the zips still attached.
There's a few Photobucket alternatives, of varying quality, here's a handy little rundown...
Welt/piping, not sure on my leather terminology. I was thinking like the other zips, the extra leather added in to cover the zip up, for a uniform look.
I spoke with Holly and she's happy to send me out a fit jacket... anyone else in the UK done this and found a sensibly priced way of returning it? With insurance the cheapest I found was £28. I was hoping more in line with the £12.50 they charge us.
The CXL HH ages in quite a 'scruffy' way, developing a lot of patina and creases and looking very casual. The Vicenza HH may show less character but also provide a 'dressier' look.
For external balance? Because it becomes visible? Or just for general symmetry?
Yeah, they to look better/cooler...
Slightly worried when I read various negatives about quick failures on Talon zips, but I'd hope Aero choose nice ones, same as YKK make poor ones and good ones. Colour wise I'm torn between brass and antique brass, it's a choice between shiny and garish or plain isn't it, somewhere in between...
Thanks for the great reply! Your old thread was very useful to read too. Do you still have the pictures by the way? It seemed a pity not to be able to see them after reading your process of speccing the jacket. I'll write a proper reply when I'm back home in a couple of hours. Cheers! :)
