    Hats in restaurants

I now travel and dine out almost exclusively with flat caps and berets. They wear easily, stow easily and generally take the worry out of packing for a trip. I almost always take my hat off in a restaurant setting - my beret rolled in the sleeve of my coat or in my wife's purse.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Sometimes less is more, more or less. This little Disney Gadabout was an also-ran in the competitive race for an inexpensive, lightweight out-on-the-town hat - a category dominated by the Stetson Playboy and Dobbs Cross Country during the late 1930s-early 1940s. I am very fond of them... a lot...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

This might be my best loved hat. It has been loved by me and a lot of guys before me since it was born in the first or second decade of the 20th century.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Seems just yesterday that Ebay was awash in stiff hats and if you wore a small size you had to follow strict dietary restrictions or move to a bigger house. My self imposed limits were built around condition (had to be very clean), size (had to fit me), price (fifty dollars or so) and quantity -...

Help with {date or identify} a hat please.....!

It has the ribbon style of a western hat, not Open Road. I think Jared's guess of 1960-ish is a good one. The ticket affixed to the box shows a two digit postal code. Five digit postal codes first came into use in the USA in 1963. I think if you advertise as c. 1960 you will be marketing fairly...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Return of the three dollar hat... I always try to get this one out for a walk before the weather warms up. The felt is becoming a nice match with my winter eyebrows. There is great history by Josh on this short lived early 20th century company here.

This Stetson Fifteen (3X Beaver) displays some of the wonderful features of pre-war Stetson hats that would not return after WWII. Note the fixed windcord button, the decorative lacing and fine pitched stitches of the sweatband. This lush pine green fedora was sold at Silverwoods in L.A...

    French Hats and makers.

There is a bit of an outward taper in the photo... mostly from the cell phone camera distortion but perhaps a little from the deep center dent as well. Viewed with the crown open it is a very straight blocking. This is one of the hats that came from a stash of NOS pieces purchased by former...
