    Turquoise/Native American jewelry

I have 2 pieces stamped with the Indian Arts and Crafts Board "U.S. Navajo 70" hallmark. I have not seen many (3 total of which I own 2)... doing a little searching I came across this article which gives one of the best summaries I have seen of the formation of the IACB and the growth of the...

    Turquoise/Native American jewelry

Four tufa cast najas strung as the focal point of four necklaces. The one at the top is the oldest, strung with Pueblo bench beads and dragonfly crosses... it is Pueblo or Navajo in origin, likely first or second decade of the 20th century. The one on the right is the only one with a hallmark...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Two new berets arrived today from South Pacific Berets... a small production collaboration between Billy Childish and Flamingo berets of Japan. Grey for the winter we surely have left, and green for the four days of Buffalo spring that comes before summer. Happy vernal equinox to all!

Wow... great job capturing the luxe of that velour. A stunner that recalls my Oviatt Peschel. The inside is incredible.

    Berets, Anyone?

A perfectly timed arrival for the vernal equinox up north... two Childish/Flamingo berets - heather gray for the waning winter and grassy green for the arrival of spring. The wool in these is scrumptious, the shape is soft but not as blousy as my other Flamingo beret, which suits me. Happy...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Every once in a while I like to let the old cats out of the bag. This is my second oldest, sold in Buffalo circa 1860. Alas, too windy to wear it in the parade.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Excuse the lack of green... this was several days ago. One of two Kami Specials from Steve... this one came via Garrett with another hat several years ago. Stiff and wooly, it's a hat I enjoy wearing.

    The School of Hard Knox

The Knox 100 I found ten years ago is the finest post-WWII hat I've handled... a combination of relentless attention to detail, and its era, which is slightly ahead in time from the run of hundred dollar hats sold by Stetson circa 1960. I've found over time that a Stetson 7X clear beaver is...

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

The hand written label is interesting... perhaps a replacement for the original if the hat was later modified? The logo imprinted label would normally indicate production postwar to the mid 1950s. The color is banana and I agree it is a nice shade.

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Thank you guys... there were a few interesting hats there that I adopted. Hats and clothing can get savaged at the whim of a student designer looking for a concept. I expect they came in as donations from their original Buffalo homes (a lot of old clothes get donated to the costume shop)... I've...

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

A hat rescued from a costume shop... it once had a brim binding that has been removed. The pin is my addition. Perhaps 1940 or a bit earlier.

Great hat and nice ride. Reminds me of our old 1960 T-bird.

    Berets, Anyone?

One of the things I love most about berets is their ease of stowage. I used to spend time deciding which of my vintage hats I would bring along for travel but now I bring berets almost exclusively. I have a couple (Elósegui) that I reserve for foul weather and treks but I usually resort to a...
