The liner imprint in this private label for Rogers Peet takes my breath away. I browsed the store with my Dad when I worked down the street at the NY Public Library… fifty years ago.
This is the first Borsalino I purchased on the vintage market. I've purchased others since. This shop must have been a destination for American tourists visiting Italy after the war... many featherweights with Balbi's store imprint have shown up for sale on U.S. eBay.
Thank you! Had the Lontra but it was a little large - it went to a good home. Haven't come across a Martora, but the Visone will fill until I get lucky. ;^)
This one might almost fit you... it's a pretty full 7 1/8.

Beautiful hat with the beautiful Colombo liner... often concealed behind a paper protector. Here is another, also velour, made for USA market with color bordered label and separate size tag. Marked in the front "visone" (mink).

Thanks Bowen!
The combination of high grade clear beaver felt and a 6" open crown allows this telescope crease to sing. The hat came to me that way and I never tried to change it.
Seldom seen (two posted here that I know of) high end clear beaver Stetson from before WWII (late 1930s-1940). I purchased this one from Lounge member Zetwal. There is a thread with catalog references from Porter here.
