Okay ... another question. I have a lapel pin that I really like, but I've only work a suit jacket/Blazer four times in the past four years (2 funerals & 2 weddings), so they don't get used. I was wondering, is there a way to turn a lapel pin into a hat ribbon pin? I can't imagine the pin and...
I have four Stetsons (bought over the past 30-ish years) that are all 59 (7 3/4) ... The Mayser 58 fits identically. It definitely runs a hair large in comparison.
Oddly enough my measured head diameter is 60cm (both by myself and the salesman at Delmonico). <shrug>

Thank you Red, when it hit 101F with above 80F dew points twice last week, I *LOVED* this hat!
We're not used to that weather in southern New England. The last time it hit 100F was back in 2012! [emoji26]

Okay ... I've bought my first "vintage" hat and should have it in my hands Monday. Stetson Playboy off The Bay, based on my research I'm guessing it's from the mid 1950s to the early 1960s.
So ... what issues should I look for (I didn't see any red flags in the listings photos)? What are the...
Thank you kind sir. The more I wear it, the more i like it. :)
I just finished roasting some coffee and have several hours until guests arrive for the town's 4th of July fireworks show (held on the weekend vs in the middle of the work week). So I went out onto the deck and took some pictures...
When I went down to Delmonico Hatter, earlier this summer, I was looking at one of their finely woven straw hats and even in the store it felt ... "closed". I guess that's the best word I can think of for the feeling. So I asked the gentleman helping me and he said that a good straw simply...
On a Windows machine, as GHT suggests, you can right click on the picture file and select Edit from the context menu. On a Windows PC that'll normally open the "paint" program. Using the program menu, select Resize. You can do a percentage as GHT suggests, or pick an actual pixel size ... I...
After looking at the Stetson aging related threads & the Huston/Publis site, I'm guessing mid-late 1950's (maybe early 60s?) due to the crown logo, clear plastic crown protector and size tag.
It looks like "3 Beall Brothers 3" sold themselves in the mid-late 1980s during the economic downturn...
That was my 92yo aunt's favorite saying the last several years of her life. Dang I miss that lady. :(
In keeping with purpose of this thread, I received a tracking number last night for this Stetson Playboy.

Curiouser and curiouser ... I was digging in a basement closet for an old hat to wear when I go out to cut the lawn in 30-45 minutes (giving it a chance to "cool down" a bit from the day time highs) and discovered a pair of old (late 1980's, early 90's) straw Stetsons cowboy hats ... both with...
Is there a ratio or or something that defines long vs regular oval? I just dug out the sketch i made of the inside of the conformer from VS/Art and it looks like between 7 & 7 1/8" on the front to back and 6 1/4" side to side.

Thank you. I'll give it a try, but measuring the inside of a circle with a floppy cloth tape measure strikes me as being ... challenging. :) Hmmm ... I wonder if I could use a metal tape measure ... the desire to straighten out should keep it against the sweat band all the way around...
Sizing question ...
Per two separate tape measures that I used myself, I came up with 23 7/16", 23 9/16", 23 9/16", 60.2cm and 59.8cm. I went down to Delmonico's a month or so ago and they measured me at 60cm. So it seems to me I should be looking at sizes 7 1/2 or 60. Yet everything I...
I'll be honest, I gave it *serious* consideration after seeing your response! Alas, I only had 2 1/2 hours free Friday morning before the wedding events (rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, etc) and other family events started. I wish I had taken an extra day off and came home today, then I could...
I'm in Omaha for the weekend (cousin's wedding), does anyone know of any hat shops out here that sell more than baseball caps?
My Google-fu and my FL Search-fu both fail me this morning.
Thanks,
