    Question from a newbie: Why are Schott jackets not liked on such an authoritative resource as Fedora? Is it related to quality/design? Or with both?

    If you just read a while on here, you will get many thoughts and learn a lot. I do not own any Schott's at this time, but have samples them in the past and had no issues other than (often" "fixed quilted lining" ) in several of their offerings.

    Honestly, this may be one of your best options. I've personally handled several back in the '90's and early 2000's that were Goatskin and seemed of good quality overall. Many were Made in US too. Here's a "48R" without it's LL-Bean tags and some wear, but nice chunky Talon zippers for $39.99...

    ^^ Exactly what he said! What this jacket needs as much as anything is to be worn. Even given some "rough usage" for a while. Go backpacking with it on, etc.
