I'm still new so correct me if I'm wrong but most of the hats I've seen that aren't really old or european have this style of bow. I don't think I've ever seen the ornate stringy style on a Stetson myself.
It almost seems like this tag might be some type of aftermarket thing. Maybe it was cleaned and blocked and a replacement size tag was put in? Again as I mentioned before the sweat bow is also odd for the era. At any rate hopefully more will be revealed when you get it.
Well you just can’t pass up great hats at a good price. Rare enough in my size let alone yours.
‘These will just make the decision of getting rid of others easier darling!’

Attempted my second mini conversion over the past few days.
I got this Resistol Beaver 50 for a really good price with a conversion in mind. The felt is pretty decent with a nice hand for what I believe is a 70's hat. It had a nice tall 6" crown and a 3 1/2" brim so it was a perfect candidate...
I saw one of the Australian ones around here recently, and a few months ago on the bay. Both had tags very similar to the standard keyhole tag but metric sizes. I’m interested to see what’s under the sweat when this one arrives. Seems very strange I’ve never seen anything like it, although I’m...
That’s a really odd size tag! The Canadian examples are very similar to the keyhole tag but are black and gold. I have seen some Stetsons made by Biltmore that look similar to that but the ones I gave seen where gold not white and I believe where all 60’s / 70’s hats. That’s an old style bow on...
Yeah for sure. I think you hit it with ‘what they call country today’ the genre as interpreted has narrowed and is mostly represented by top 40 Nashville stuff.
I listen to a lot of Bakersfield sound and some really old stuff like Ernest Tubb, Carter family, Bob Wills etc. As well as the more...
Yeah, I spend a lot of time listening to artists most people have never heard of. My love of Country and roots music really developed when I started going to Pickathon every year - a fantastic music festival just outside of Portland Oregon
Since you like psych rock you should try listening to...
I find that surprising as you seem like a bit of an audiophile. I consider myself to know quite a bit about a wide variety of genres and listen to everything. Country has been my most recent obsession. One of the big problems is what most people equate with the genre is the top 40 stuff and bro...
Out again for supplies! Continued with another from my Canadian haul.
50’s Brockville Stetson 3X Open Road
Beautiful thin dense shapeable felt on this one!
