Stetson 3X conversion. This one had a hard life. It was probably a working hat. Now it's retired to a new life still bearing some of its past. Trimmed the brim to 2 5/8 and added a different brim binding, three cord hat band, and Last Drop liner, all scavanged from other hats. Before...

Another make shift Whippet conversion. This was a Resistol Stagecoach that Bob Hufford saved from a yard sale and gifted to me. It was a small hat so I converted to a Whippetish clone. Ironically, the ribbon and brim binding came off another modern Whippet that a former Lounger gave to me. I've...

Akubra rebuild. I rebuilt it with materials from a modern wool Stetson Whippet. Hat band, brim binding, sweat, liner, all came from the wool Whippet. Hank:

Oiling a felt hat to match sweat stains

I remember a good friend of mine who sold hat conversions on eBay. From time to time he would come across some old Western hats that were dirty, had holes at the pinch, and he would would reblock them and put in new sweats and sell them as distressed. People scooped them up. He said the dirtier...

Oiling a felt hat to match sweat stains

Yessir they do. And to think that people can save themselves some good money by wearing their hats around outside for work and other outdoor activities if they want that naturally distressed look. There's a good amount of character to hats like that.

Well, the hat has character the way it is. It looks like a well worn working Cowboy's hat. You're in good company with these guys.

Here's a couple of different angles of the ribbon and bow work on @Thundercolt 's hat. The bow style is one that's on a Borsalino I have.

I'm really glad you like the hat. It was great working with you buddy. I didn't know you had that hat for 25 years, though. I can only imagine how many adventures you and that hat shared together over the past 25 years, and now a new adventure begins. Wear it well buddy, and thanks again! It...
