I have some very good sections on my Kensington to be fair, it's just the bad ones are unusually bad
The YouTube Himel Kensington video even discusses the pristine stitching, recommended to choose light stitching on dark brown to highlight it. That is the jacket I mirrored.
My jacket fits...
That Imperial looks great from the photos shared, I agree this is how they should leave the shop. It shows it can be done.
How long ago was the Imperial made?
Yes, he responded and was quite pleasant about it and said he was going to look at the photos when he had a chance. Traveling now.
He actually said he wished I had contacted him earlier so it made me feel much better.
I liked the new RRL blanket ones, too bold for me to wear but I appreciate the art.
The spirit bear with the cow fur and moose hide is a really interesting piece.
Do you think they look at customers that point out these issues as a nuisances?
That's what i picture for some reason, but these crazy doubled up stitching and rapid close ones are INDUSTRIAL, like something you could expect on a tarp. Just feeling ripped off, I just wanted the best like he...
I was just doing the same thing but online. I went to the Goodwear leather site which is someone I know Dave knows and respects. He is just a lot more than Aero money.
I randomly picked various areas under armpits, more complicated areas like bulky epaulets, and pockets.
Compare these to my...
Thank you for the support guys, honestly I didn't know what to expect.
I am new here but I do love this hobby, I know many come for advice, get their jacket and move on. I'm still here. Still want more.
I felt stupid complaining about stitches but this was so expensive and I have a $200 five...
Noooo this looked amazing on you. The two tone ones s subtle enough to not stand out too much.
That Horween Vermont looks great, surprising you don't see it more. Looks like it drapes better than CXL
Funny I thought the same thing, if you can't execute double stitch work around the pocket then skip it. It does add a subtle detail if done correctly.
I could not agree more with everything you said, I wouldn't mind small imperfections, this price point it should be close. The back and forth...
Yeah I can understand now that I think back to build pictures that but if those holes keep growing they will look like utter crap
I keep remembering the schott jackets I had for years without the holes showing any kind of stress
I know this jacket doesn't offer the best protection while riding...
@jeo, I did notice it wasn't perfect but until recently I didn't know just how bad, I really didn't stare at it in certain areas, but something recently made me do just that, and that's when I noticed some of these major imperfections
But really concerns me is the arm pit seems, I ride a...
These I'm actually worried about because they are in stress points (armpits)
I know that this will not outlive me as they say because I've had similar symptoms on a backpack which had holes where the strap connected to the body and they just got larger until they failed.
The holes around the...
*mods I apologize in advance if this should be in another thread but I couldn't find a general Himel dedicated thread.
So my made up measure Himel Kensington survived its first winter, if you can call it here in Florida, southeastern USA. It does get to the 40's at night some days which isn't...
It does fit well which is a gamble going custom, I definitely agree that it could have been achieved at a lower price, i could have even had a Goodwear J100 for $1,500.
Like mentioned, I wonder if the sole machinist is under pressure trying to put out jackets in the advertised 6 week period...
Just venting but When I see perfect work like this it makes me feel like I was fed a line of bullshit, I was told that handmade custom jackets will have imperfections because of they are constructed, one off by a single person versus off the rack which can be made in pieces by different...
If you like precise stitching then these two examples should impress anyone, the first stitch line along the zipper tape on the cafe racer is so close to the edge.
They Cal looks like it fits closer to originals without the overly slimmer sleeves
Obviously you are going to pay near full price for some of the small selvedge brands but These are the kind of companies that have sales that slash prices in half so I wouldn't pay retail. Even Levi's had crazy sales on their website during thanksgiving/ Black Friday time.
PN's fit picture sold me on this style of J100 with the welts along the zippers. I had to go with Himel Bros Kensington because my measurements but would surely recommend going off the rack if possible.
Here is the ELMC J100 in their brown which looks amazing to my eyes.
A Japanese review...
