Thank you Canuck Panda, much appreciated. This is a fascinating, if not confounding hobby at times. Appreciate the thought, will check out the pool noodles and go from there. Enjoy the day.

Hi Everyone, hope you're well.
I've searched the forum but I don't find an answer to the question I'm about to ask, hence this post.
I've been hanging my leather jackets on proper, heavy suit hangers - the type with the rounded, widened ends that better mimic shoulders and offer support.
My...
They are indeed speedy - I'm guessing the site I linked to above is the US or North American site? Is the Japanese site this one?

Bfd70, it really is a shame that the zippers failed, and that's especially true at that price point - $3k is a significant amount to spend on a single jacket. The J-24 on RMC's website is $5k, and they're sold out. The pieces I own were all purchased from either other forum members or from a...
Photo2u, apologies for the delayed response, was running around with the kids all day yesterday and got to cleaning the car this morning, which turned into a five-hour ordeal - scrubbed inside and outside. I'm tired but the car's looking good - now if I can just convince my kids to keep it clean...
Bfd70, I'm sorry to hear that the zippers failed you - did RMC provide a possible explanation? I guess when manufacturers use the smallish, period correct zippers they're just perhaps not as robust as the large gauge.
That said, a lot of people in the 1950s and '60s wore their jackets hard and...
Photo2u, thank you so much for such a thoughtful and well constructed response, I really appreciate you taking the time to do that, truly.
I'm a fan of shorter jackets, and all the better if they fit a little close to the body. I don't know if this reproduction is fitted or a bit more boxy but...
Hi everyone,
Hope you're well and looking at a great weekend.
I'm hoping someone can help me with a few fit pics of the limited edition RMC HD 1940s Cycle Champ D-pocket collaboration from a while back. I think there must have been a version before the most recent Jason Momoa piece, however...
Okay everyone, no more then. This was absolutely never intended to be a Himel conversation, despite my use of his name in the subject line. Again, I've referenced him because he makes expensive jackets that engender a lot of conversation - much of it for, and much of it against.
His creations...
The point has been missed. I use Himel as an example - this is in no way intended to be a thread about Dave, his jackets, the hides, etc.
And it's not clickbait, I'm interested in understanding the perceived value around various brands, and how some brands can charge what they charge, while...
And that's why I've asked the question to the forum - I didn't mean for this to be all about Himel. I believe he makes beautiful, quality products.
My question is really about our discussions around the quality - perceived and otherwise - of various manufacturers. One person has a great...
Cotton thread, yes, I've read discussions about Dave's choice of cotton over nylon, the difficulty of communication with ordering, fit issues, etc.
And to clarify, this isn't a thread to bash Himel, or the process, or the jackets, or the hides, again, I have respect for the man's craftsmanship...
I agree that people tend to fall along the lines of where they've had the best experience(s). That said, what I'm really after is understanding how a manufacturer grows into that pricing category.
I've no doubt there are lots of jacket makers out there creating beautiful ready-to-wear pieces...
For sure I need to take a visit to Himel Bros, my larger question is around how a manufacturer rises to the highest pricing-levels. What drives that and why?
Hi everyone,
Be it morning or evening where you live I hope you have a terrific weekend planned - the sun is shining without a cloud in the sky here in Toronto, it's absolutely glorious today. Wishing you all the same.
I'm looking for the forum's collective thoughts on quality and what builds...
Thank you Marc, this is terrific information - I really love that some of these manufacturers step out every now and then looking for ways to do something a bit different. Great stuff Marc!
