i tend to do my hair daily. Well, that's not exactly right as i sometimes set my hair and then simply "fix" it the next day or two. By fixing i mean that i smooth the fly aways and re-pin where needed.
i use a curling iron most of the time to set my hair and the heat has a tendency to fade...
grateful
i am so glad that i have found this thread, late though i may be. i've been on the mailing list for Besame for many, many months but have never bought from them as i'm no fan of buying make-up sight unseen. The samples sound lovely, but i've not dived in yet.
Thank you, ladies...
Hair mousse and hot rollers, doll! Part your hair off to one side, close to your temple. Using large sections of hair, roll the hair around your face towards the front. Roll the rest of the hair toward the back.
When you unroll your hair, use fingers to gently breakup the curls. If...
Kids, by the numbers
i have one child, a daughter. Taylor, my girl, will be thirteen in August. She's very much her own person, not terribly into vintage styles. But she also enjoys swing music and dance, and she LOVES old comedies a la The Thin Man, Bringing Up Baby.
Pickle,
Have you tried snoods? Granted, you'd need one with a lot of room, but a snood at the nape is quite lovely. Try the style Queenie suggested and put that roll in a snood, perhaps add some flowers to the side or back of your head, too.
Good luck!
Just found this thread
Oh, this thread is a joy! i have to agree with so many of the comments made so far. i, too, make a point of being well dressed regardless of where i am going. My work requires that i wear scrubs - so i wear pin-striped scrubs, but i still take the time and effort to do...
Well, i'm in Southern California, so with the last few weeks excepted we do not tend to get much in the way of stormy weathers. That said, i should mention that my hairdo is not at all fragile and stays firmly in place all day with the help of 4 - 5 hair pins and some Aveda Air Control...
Thanks!
i love my curling iron, but i'm a sucker for just about any hair gadget and have a frightening collection of often unused rollers/curlers/et cetera. My not-so-secret is leaving the curls intact and allowing them to cool. i worked for a few years at a hair salon (i was a make-up...
Hmm, not necessarily a true recreation - here's how i tend to wear my hair daily.
It's so easy to do, too. i mousse my hair once it's dry and part my hair across the top of my head from ear to ear. i part the front section as usual and then curl (i use a curling iron) the sides of my...
i am fortunate enough to have that beautiful Bogart vanity in addition to the four poster bed and chaise. And i simply adore them, they are the most beautiful pieces of furniture that i have ever owned. Granted, they were a bit pricey, but we were fortunate enough to hit the Thomasville store...
i have to second the recommendation for "The Assassination Bureau." It's long been a favorite for me, but then again i had a schoolgirl's crush on Oliver Reed and he's rather handsome in the film.
Another odd film for the ranks: "Photographing Fairies"
See the IMDB information here.
It's...
i find that creamer is just too heavy for tea, it covers up the taste. Even with a good strong tea. However, my fella is fan of Irish Breakfast with some Baileys in it. :)
i like a good strong tea, but i stickler for brewing for just the right amount of time. Before i became well versed...
i am so glad that i found this thread! i am a tea drinker and an avid fan of good teas. So much so that i direct a local Ladies' Tea Guild in Long Beach, California.
Some of my personal favorite teas come from a local tea room, the Vintage Tea Leaf. They have a website, however, and do...
introductions
Ah, i suppose that this is where i ought to say, "hello," and introduce myself.
i am Lily, a gal in her thirties with a love of vintage. i'm fortunate enough to run a Ladies' Tea Guild in beautiful Long Beach, California. It is through one of our members that i found the...
i live in Long Beach and have, actually, been quite hopeful about going soon. The exhibit leaves in April, so i had better get a move on.
Was it really only so-so? Do tell!
Hello, doll! Yes, i finally set up an account here. At any rate, on the topic at hand - err, head. ;)
Pin curls would likely be the best thing for your hair as it tends to take a curl well. Personally, i've always had a hell of a time pin-curling my hair. So, i cheat with a curling iron...
