My missus came across this thread, (she keeps a watchful eye on you all, don't you know,) and she commented that I have dodged the before photo. It wasn't until I turned fifty that I started to wear a hat. Psoriasis up to then, had been the bane of my life, fellow sufferers will know that the best medication is sunlight.

Once the former crowning glory had thinned out I started getting sun burn and that's when the hats appeared. Straw hats at first, then felts. So I'm about to hide away, here's my passport photo circa 1966, and in similar pose circa 2016.

In 1972 I bought my first fedora- A Stetson Moose River. I was big into archery back then, and Fred Bear was one of my heros...This was the closet thing I could afford to Freds Borsalino. ( back then I didnt know what a Borsalinio was, but I COULD spell Stetson) Somewhere (?) I know Ive got a couple pictures of me actually wearing it, but I cant find them and will have to update later. Till then how about a picture of an old girl friend wearing it while I was helping tossing someone in the pool on his birthday lol. In all honesty she looked better in it than I did anyway.. Me on the right in 1974 with all the long brown hair, and hats is on Kellye's head in back of the crowd. By the time I got out of high school, that hat had survived several weeks long backing or canoe trips. It had a lot of hard- won character. My friend asked if she could have the hat and I obliged. ( I miss that hat )... Humm... theres a 50 yr reunion coming up soon... Maybe I should look her up and see if she still has it LOL
