Hückel Weilheim "Extra", 58 cm possibly mid 1950s. The Gray Smooth Finish Felt has a very Soft Hand and easily dry creases. Also a mid width Black Band with contrasting Gray Brim Binding. The "Extra" goes back to J. Hückel´s Söhne and here is a similar earlier example.

[/URL]

Both the early "Extra" and later "Extra" were also worn Brim Up.

W. & G. Schuchard "J. Harris & Co. Strand 32 London", 58 cm, possibly later 1950s. W. & G. Schuchard were a Wholesaler, Distributor out of Giessen, Lahn, Germany. Matt was very kind to send this hat to me as exchange for a smaller hat that I had mistakenly purchased from a seller that wouldn't ship outside of Germany. The black Felt is really fantastic and easily dry creases. Also has great form and top quality construction. Using an English theme was common in this time period.

I love the bow-less band. Such a clean look!

I bought this Mossant "Tanagra" because of the heather felt and it turns out to be great felt. I knew it was not a wide brim, but i like the hat very much. Good color also. I even like the ribbon on this one.

That felt is stunning! It's like a kaleidoscope. I can't stop looking at it!

Are my eyes mistaken or did I spot a hand-painted tie in that bunch?

More pics here:

Let me know if you need a larger format photo of any suspects.

Bob, Fantastic find!

What a cool all round haul, Bob. Some nice finds in the mix.

I think I'm going to faint. Hat porn; isn't that illegal these days?

Nice haul Bob! That should keep you busy for a few days :)

Very nice hats Bob!!

Wow—hours of fun ahead of you there !

Holy moly!!!

What a haul!!!

Thanks everyone! These mystery lots are always fun to reveal.

I picked up this Rousselet heather felt back in 2022, so not a new hat. However, I neglected to post it here back then. The photo was taken today.

According to Steve's @mayserwegener research, L.F. Rousellet was a German hat manufacturer that became Resolut Homburger Hatfabrik in 1934. Who took over or bought the Rousselet name seems to be unknown.

The label under the sweat on mine might provide some clues if anyone can recognise it or see a resemblance to one similar.

20250307_184621.jpg

It was sold at the Hansen Brothers store in the little Danish town of Frederikssund.

20250307_210653.jpg

The liner is neither glued nor sewn in, but loose.
20250307_211043.jpg

Crown height 10cm, the overwelt brim 5cm.

A fairly dense, but soft felt.

I believe it to be 1960s.

A nicely made hat, which I ought to wear more often.

Hochstrasser & Cie. Wädenswil Zürich "Extra", 58 cm. There is no mention of Hochstrasser & Cie. Wädenswil Zürich but it's very similar to John @moehawk 's early find. Not sure how to date this one. This Stiff Felt was made for the famous Zürich Department Store "Grand Magasins Jelmoli S. A. Zürich" that unfortunately recently went out of business. The Form, Fur Felt + Finish, Components and Construction are very high quality. The Liner and Sweatband are standouts. Also in excellent condition.

Steve, Great find! It was actually made by "Rockel Alsfeld". See the left side of the paper label. It's possible they got control of the "Rousellet" trademark.

This one unfortunately came in an envelope! No lasting damage, but it will take a few steamings to get it where I want it.
Borsalino Ludosca in Ghiaccio colour. Size 57 with the bound brim at 7cm and the crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Dark grey thin ribbon, which for some reason was missing its bow. I added that on in a little piece of black ribbon I had on hand. If you look closely you can spot the slight difference.
Very soft felt with a great hand. Lightweight too at 87 grams. I like the way it creases, which it does every time you handle it. Ludosca is a model name we have not seen before. Very satisfying when a new one turns up.
