I couldn't get the picture on here, but if you go to bostonproper.com, there is a Bolero hat for sale, not fur felt, but it is paired with a poncho on the model-- looks quite fetching-- so maybe there is a market for your hat if you still wish to sell it. I'm sure it's much nicer than this one.
I have decieded I must sell this. Since my Father passed away last October, I cannot afford to hang on to something I have no use for as well as I am paying off some of his final expenses and I need to raise $
if a moderator would be so kind as to move this post to the classifieds section? I will add more details.
Gaucho hats come from South America. There are several varieties. The one with a telescope crown and flat brim is known as the norteno or northern style (wide brim) or campero (medium brim). These hats are actually worn by Argentine gauchos or cowboys - even today. The Cordobes, usually called bolero hat, is Spanish in origin and usually has a flat crown as well as a flat brim (cake on a plate.) These were the wide brimmed country hats of Southern Spain and designed primarily for sun protection. They are worn today only by traditional dancers and entertainers - and, I suppose, members of Spain's version of Fedora Lounge. What you might do is list the details from the interior of the hat - liner, if any, and sweatband. That should tell you about the country of origin.
