Friends,

I rode to Guanajuato to relax a bit. In my way, I decided to stop at my supply store and pick up some zippers. This is a smaller retailer shop. The owner, has several stores including a "Big Hub" I will go the the hub to look for more later. Many nice vintage NOS separating zips found.

Next time you go, let me know, maybe you can pick me up a few. I just had to do a repair on a jacket, and these #5 NOS talons I have are just not big enough. Would love to find something in the 7-10 range--Talon, Crown, Servil, whatever. It's so dumb I know, but just seeing the YKK on the zipper turns me off even though it's probably a better zipper. Wish they would create some vintage style sliders. I guess the market isn't big enough.

Friend, Please tell me what you need. I have several #10 They are vintage 50s/60s. Talon, crown, conmar. Please let me know the length you need it in. I hook you up brother. It is hard to beat the quality of these older zips.

Many thanks. Next time for sure.

The Riri zipper on my Thedi broke. Was really surprised because it's only gotten maybe 30 wears. But I think the slider was at a weird angle, almost like the tape had been pulled too tight during sewing and forced it to angle out. So the male pin had to enter at a weird angle, and every time I put it in there, I was like, ooh, this ain't going to be good. Sure enough it snapped one day.

I sent it to Dena with a Talon #5 I had. But when Dena saw it, she suggested going with a #10 and she's right. The jacket needs a heftier zipper. Luckily she had a nice discolored silver one with no name brand and it matches pretty well.

But I know (like the rest of us), I've got a few ticking Aero time bombs that have #5s with thick CXL. those need to be upgraded to at least #7 or #8 for sure, maybe even a 10 at some point.

Nice to have all those zippers in a store! I will contact you if I need a zipper. I have collected a few older, 30s zippers through the years. Sunrise Talons, ball and chain pulls. They are difficult to find. I've purchased jackets just to get the zippers.

How old of zippers do these stores sell?

Hello T. I welcome your communication any time. The zips at this location are mainly 50s-80s. I got about 100 late 50s talon in sizes from 16-24". I also got about 100 conmar type from late 50s to early 60s. All the zippers are in the cotton tape. Only 10% of all the zippers are in Nickle.

I thought I shouldn't start a new thread because of my question so I can refresh this thread.

I'm looking for modern waterproof zippers. I only need 2 or 3 pieces. Polished stainless steel or titanium are required. The size of the puller is #8 and small for a breast pocket. What exactly is the length for my jackets, I do not know yet. I am also looking for all hardware for classic vintage jackets (stainless steel or titanium). Give me a search direction please.
