Any stories relating to the concert(s)?

The first real concert I attended was actually this past year.

Here's the winners:

I saw them at the Greek Theatre in Griffith Park right after an early day in Hollywood to do some work. I had to walk up a hill to get to the theatre, and though I was late, I made it just in time, right after dropping off my video camera in one of the offices. The entire crowd was constantly on their feet, dancing and singing. I didn't understand a word of it, but music is indeed universal.

The first concert I saw was Wierd Al Yankovic! No kidding. It was a pretty good as far as a ten year old boy can remember.
The last show I was at was Ted Nugent.
Oh yea, It was pretty incredible. He does pretty good for a 60 year old man, he's got more energy than I do at 20! :eusa_clap

I'm still waiting to see a Heart concert without having to travel across the country, but there's nobody going to be close in the near future that I want to see...

The last concert I attended was the New Jersey Symphony on Friday night. They played an all-Baroque concert featuring "Water Music" (Handel & Telemann). The next concert I attend will probably be my next in the subscription, I think in a couple of weeks. I saw a couple folks dressed in vintage there as well- anyone from the FL?

Oh wait, did you mean rock concerts? :p

I've never been a huge music person. I enjoy it, but I usually don't keep track of it. I haven't been to too many concerts. My first was maybe a grade school field trip to a local classical concert. I'm not sure. My first big concert was the Killers (with the Fray opening, waaay before their songs started showing up in TV shows). It was in Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, which is a pretty cool venue. The last concert I went to was Weezer.

I've had bad luck with being in the wrong places at the wrong time for concerts I want to see. Jimmy Eat World was my favorite band in high school (Bleed American was *the* album of high school for me), but I've never seen them live. On their last tour when they were in California I was in Colorado, and when they were in Colorado I was in California! Wrong place, wrong time. I always wanted to go to the Vans Warped Tour in high school too, but somehow that never worked out either!

My first 'real' concert was Phish (I won tickets on the radio). Then Megadeth, followed by a big, multi metal band concert including Soulfly, Taproot, Otep, etc. I saw Tool in Utah which was absolutely incredible. If you like them recorded, they put on one amazing live show. I'd love to see them again! My last concert was Otep and Kittie in Utah. My brother and I got back stage, and got some signed drum sticks. :)

Eric Clapton was in Utah last week, but I didn't hear about it until that night. What a shame! I'd love to see him.

i missed my chance to see Ruth Brown at Viva last year. :( She was performing on the final day, and DH wanted to make good time on the 9 hour drive home, so we left early.

Many of the bands on my 'to see' list are either dead or broken up. Zeppelin, The Doors, Janis Joplin, etc. Sublime, too.

No kidding, I'd give my right arm to see Pink Floyd before they die. That's a drag about Clapton, he's another one I'd love to see.

First concert -- gee, it'd have to have been a performance of the Messiah by the Bangor Symphony somewhere back in the early eighties. I was never a rockin' kind of gal, what can I say. However, I did take my niece to see Sarah MacLachlan in Portland a couple of years ago and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. (I know that probably doesnt count as real rock, but hey, for me it was like sitting in the mud at Woodstock.)

My sister, on the other hand, now she was a real seventies gal. Saw the Village People in person when she was only eleven years old. This may do much to explain her current state of mind.

Concerts

I grew up in Chautauqua NY, home of the Chautauqua Institution, great granddaddy of summer cultural festivals. My first concert was probably Chautauqua Symphony, before I can even remember. But I do remember seeing Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman and Count Basie there in the early 1960's. Unforgettable. I got the autographs of the whole Basie band (still have it!)
As far as Rock is concerned, I saw Jim Morrison and the Doors in Montreal in 1969, Jefferson Airplane and Jimi Hendrix in Honolulu in 1968, and Bo Diddly in Boston in 1970. Great memories. Last Rock concert I was ever at was Niagara Falls Convention Center, 1975, with Carlos Santana and Eric Clapton. After that I sort of swore off Rock and went to Classical and Big Band. I was at a concert at Carnegie Hall with Cab Calloway, where Dizzy Gillespie also appeared. I'm REALLY glad I saw that. (Maybe around 1989?)
Living in New York I go to music events all the time. Last was a "New Music" concert in a tiny venue in the Village. Weird stuff but great.
Recently went to a huge concert at Carnegie where they premiered an Oratorio that was a memorial to the Holocaust. Staggering.
Since I regularly attend the New York Swing Dance Society, I catch a lot of live Big Band music. The best!
I'd really like to hear Fletch's band, if he'd let me know when he's playing next!
Oh, yeah! I saw the one and only FUGS (Kill, Kill, Kiil for Peace!) in 1966.
And Marion Anderson on her umpteenth farewell tour.

LAST = Legendary Shack Shakers/Rev Horton Heat. Wasn't impressed. I don't like The Rev at all. The shack Shakers were pretty cool. We met them and they were nice guys. Some of their music is good, but for the most part it's too crazy for me!

FIRST - New Kids On The Block in 1989. I'm not ashamed!! I saw them again in December 1990! But I did see Robert Hazard in a local park when I was a kid. Does that count?

SOON = Who knows! In the 90s I was going to punk shows 4-5 times a month. Now it seems like I go to bigger shows less often (maybe once a year).

MOST SEEN BAND = Mr T Experience. And I met them every single time, got their autos, and got my pics taken with them. I worshipped them in the 90s.

BOSTON! LETS GO PATRIOTS!!!
My first concert: Barry Manilow/Neil Diamond. I was 5, my parents were huge fans.
I actually got to go to a lot of concerts growing up, my cousins own a ticketing agency here in Boston, so we used to get hooked up with really great tickets.
My dad's good friend that he grew up with produced U2's "The Unforgettable Fire" So when I was about 10 I got to go to the concert and hang out with them backstage. I got home at 4Am on a school night and my dad met some groupie who had missed his train, so my dad let him crash on our couch. My Mom was furious!!!
The best concert I went to: Frank Sinatra, in the fall of 1994. He played at this venue in Boston called Harbor Lights. A large outdoor stage set up right on the water. My boyfriend at the time jumped through a lot of hoops to get me front row tickets. It was the most romantic night of my life, so far.
My favorite person to see in concert: Paul Simon. I'm in love with him:)
My most recent concert was The Boston POP's.
The concert I'm hoping to see this year: The reunion of The Police. Next to Paul Simon, I LOVE Sting, but I really don't like his new stuff, it's a bit too new age for me.

The last music concert was Leela James
My first one was a concert with Bell Biv DeVoe, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill, I think this has to be the early '90s when I was a wee one.

My next concert will be Les Nubians at SOB's in April. :D

Here's a story:

While at the BBD/Johnny Gill concert, we met a few celebrities of the time, a group named Guy (who were big with NYC youth at the time) and a few other people, this hip hop group called the UMC's and a producer named Premier. About a year later, some friends of mine and I went to the Black Expo at Jacob Javitz and there was the group Guy and UMC's, they remembered me! (I, at 15 was SOOOO excited) Years later, I worked with Premier on some graphics and a web site. He didn't remember me though.

First = Olivia Newton-John, "Physical Tour"

Last = The Dan Balmer Trio

Next = No idea. Shows have really lost their lustre for me, I think because my brother worked for Ticketmaster for so long and going to shows became daily routine. Now I'm really picky, especially about venue and venue size. More often than not now I leave halfway through anyway. Once you "get it" and see what kind of live performance the band or artists gives, unless it's amazing, I get really bored. I'll probably go see some jazz soon because that's where my interests tend to lie more and more and great live jazz trumps almost everything else.

What was the last musical concert you attended? - Last year, hubby and I saw Nine Inch Nails/Peaches/Bauhaus in February, June and July, and KMFDM/CombiChrist in October. Not your typical musical tastes you'll find on the Lounge I'm sure... ;)
What was the first musical concert you attended? - Either Jars of Clay or 98¬?...I can't remember.
What musical concert will you be attending soon? - Either Nine Inch Nails or KMFDM, whichever band comes around my neck of the woods first!

Hmm...stories? My friend and I were kicked out of the hotel where 98¬? was staying after their performance. We followed their tour bus to the hotel and I managed to get a few inches away from the door where Nick Lachey was staying...the security guards were none too pleased. Hehe.

Sascha of KMFDM signed my t-shirt, and talked to hubby and I a little before the show. Lucia is really awesome too...she emails me every once in a while. Hmm...that's about it. I haven't really been to a lot of concerts!

dude I'da killed to see the Yardbirds

I still have the program from the show. It was a great show, especially for my first live concert.
In those days if you had long hair you were in a band, we were, and we signed autographs at the show, which was funny because we were nobodies.
I also got Keith Relf and Jimmy Page to sign their latest 45 record, after the show. My buddy and I were sitting outside the auditorium waiting for my mom to pick us up, we were the only people there. The band came out with a police escort, and there was only us. They laughed, and left in a new Chevy, all squeezed in.
