Which are your favourite jazz albums? Maybe some are classics, maybe there's one you love that isn't particularly well-known. Let's hear about it!

This is my list.
(I only included one by each artist, otherwise my list would contain dozens of Miles, Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson albums!)

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Oscar Peterson - We Get Requests
Duke Ellington - Anatomy of a Murder
Bill Evans Trio - Waltz for Debby
Ben Webster - For the Guv'nor
John Coltrane - Ole
Ramsey Lewis Trio - More Sounds of Christmas
Ella Fitzgerald - The Songbooks
Eberhard Weber - The Colours of Chloe
Weather Report - Black Market
Charles Mingus - Ah Hum

If I could only take one to a desert island, it would be Kind of Blue. I never tire of listening it, and I've been listening to it for decades.

Obviously, there are dozens more compilations by pre-war artists that mostly recorded only 'sides'.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (I think this is the biggest selling jazz album)
Thelonious Monk - The Complete Columbia Years
Charlie Parker - With Strings, the master takes
Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers - Moanin'
I'll stop here. Cool thread.

Hmm ... difficult. Does it have to be golden era? My list will be a wild mix on a time scale.

Jimmy Smith - The Cat
Jimmy Smith - The Midnight Train (with Stanley Turrentine)
The Crusaders - Free As the Wind
Lalo Schifrin - (the best of 1962 1972)
Cannonball Adderlely - Somethin' Else
Stan Getz with Joao & Astrudo Gilberto (give me anything, I'll take it on my little island)
Horace Silver - The blue note years
Sonny Criss - Sonny's Dream

I probably change my mind in 2 hours :p

Ben Webster meets Gerry Mulligan
Saxophone Collossus/Tenor Madness - Sony Rollins

Not in that order - just shuffle them around.
