Yes sir, nothing finer than a stout cigar and a warm, neat dram (or two...or three) of peatiness! It soothes the soul for the next night's journey into the callousness of the city.shakeshead

My father had a special taste for cigars and scotch - something he and some of his friends indulged in on some occasions - much to my mother's dismay! I like the scotch - husband likes both - it works out.

Thanks, JP, I'll keep that in mind.

Here's another vote for Maker's Mark. I'm not a bourbon guy but when I am, make mine a Maker's Mark.

"The horror....the horror.." I drink Schlitz beer. It's very hard to find here, as detractors say it should be. But here's the thing: It's a true taste of the 50's: They evidently didn't tinker with the trendy lighter recipes like Bud and others. It's just like your parents let you taste before child protective services was invented and became Orwellian. Funny how when my friends try a proffered can, they like the taste (but could never allow themselves to actually buy and enjoy it on their own).
Of course, it's disappointing and plebian to say that a REAL martini, gin,(not vodka, dear), dry vermouth and an olive (no onion, you Gibson drinkers) is the most satisfying drink I have ever experienced and I do enjoy the rare Scotch and Bourbon.

I like Glenmorangie as Sherry Wood finish or the normal 10 years most.
But lately I had a chance to drink a Glen Albyn, that was a magnificent taste.
Glenfiddich is also a good one for me and the Ardmore.

Balvenie indeed. My grandfather gave me a bottle for Christmas and it was a really really nice drink.

It got my fiancee truned on to scotch.

or, to indulge the sweet tooth, Ron Zacapa Reserve 23 Anos Rum. a Guatemalan cane juice rum.
