Wearing very cool silver/ grey/ blue/ violet shades against my blue-grey eyes- just sucks all the life out of my eyes. Burgundy and plums suit me much better and make my eyes sparkle. I also discovered that Pinky Lilac/ sugarplum purple don't look loud but really makes my eyes appear blue.

Wearing eyeliner all the way around the eye. I don't think anyone looks good with this. Can't believe I thought I did.

*raises hand to the Eyeliner Magic club...

I did the kohl liner everywhere. Good grief.

Biggest beauty mistake though was accidentally waxing off half an eyebrow. In my infinite early twenties wisdom, I figured I'd wax them both off completely so at least they'd grow in evenly. It worked out okay, since I could pencil them in any way I wanted.... But I was managing a tiki bar in the summer at the time, and every time I felt a little sweaty, I'd be running in the back to make sure they were still on my face.

I also did some really ridiculous stuff with my hair but I blame it on the '90s and the Grunge era.... ;)

I also would like to join the eyeliner magic club. It was so bad, I thought I had erased it from my memory. I did the kohl liner and even the liquid liner for a little bit. What in the world were we thinking?

The most ridiculous.. where do I even start? I never did the eyeliner (small eyes, made them look even smaller, good thing I knew at least that) but I applied blush like Bridget Jones (way too much and all over my face basically), I overplucked my eyebrows and filled them in with kohl...mismatched foundation shades... sometimes too dark, sometimes too light... concealer? Yeah, you just smear it on your pimples and they're erased right? What's blending? What do you mean I have beige-brown smears all over my face?!?!!?

The just straight up worst... I had really long, fairly healthy black hair and just randomly decided one day it would be a good idea to bleach it platinum within, say, 3 days.. after dying it black for a year or so. Yeah... that went over well. This was 5 years ago and I'm still "paying".

top 3 - 1. Thinking that cutting off my fringe would be a good idea and ending up with a square hole in it when I was about 8.
2. Thinking that a deep pink blush would be great as an eyeshadow and making it look like I'd been punched in the face
3. Having long, straight hair with no fringe and no layers in mid-brown and parting it in the middle. Considering I have what I call a five-head ( since I can fit five fingers over my forehead) this was NOT a good look for me !

I just remembered... I once thinned my hair. It worked really great for a while, until it started to grow back and I had short fuzzy ringlets poking out between long fuzzy ringlets. There are not even words to describe this hairstyle. While I'm on the topic of hair, how about fringe in ringlets? Yeah, that looks awesome across your forehead.

It seems so many of us dabbled in the "eyeliner magic"! I wonder why we all seemed to have thought, at one point or other, that this was a good idea? Has it been fashionable? Hahahah.

Let's see, other beauty mistakes... cutting my hair too short is always a beauty mistake, one I seemed doomed to repeat. Also, glittery eyeshadows which had glitter of a large size! I don't find that eyeshadow looks bad with smaller milled glitter particles or shimmer, but those big glitters I know I used in 1999 were a mistake ;)

Oh yes, nice cornea scratching glitter. Hahaha I like sparkly shadows as well, and they definitely must contain the small, smooth glitter.

My mistakes… oh I was a child of the 80s. Tidal wave bangs loaded with hairspray, color block eye shadow, that perm that time (my mother's idea, I blame her). I know there are more, but those are my most cringe-worthy.

I'm new, and would like to say, "hello all. I am excited to be a member of this site!"

Where to begin! :p

Over-plucking my eyebrows is my biggest regret. I used to pluck them pencil thin, till I read that thicker eyebrows make you look younger. I've been trying to grow them out for over a year, but I have bald patches everywhere, which is not nice. But even just filling them in with pencil looks better than when I sported the thin eyebrows.

Other mistakes, wearing the new translucent powders like make up forever while getting pictures taken. I look so ghostly and a bit strange in photos, where you can see the white powder---now on ffacebook for everyone to enjoy :(

Also, not wearing spf sooner. I only started wearing it a few years ago, I really wish I started when I was young.

I think my biggest beauty mistake - and one I still do! - is hating how I look. It means that I try to make myself look as plain as possible so people don't notice me. Crazy really as if I made more of an effort I might feel more positive about how I look but some habits are hard to break! I struggle between wanting to look pretty and wanting to be invisible.

I used to be the same way, always trying to be invisible so no one notices me. The thing that made me change that was, as silly as it may seem, my love for vintage clothing. The clothing is so beautiful, but I didn't think I should wear it, since I'm on the bigger size, I never wanted attention, but I had enough and decided I'd wear what I love. It made me feel better about myself and I think better thoughts about myself. You deserve to be seen and you deserve to feel beautiful---because I bet you are :)

Dyeing my hair black-just not a good look for me.

Not becoming interested in makeup until later in life. I consider this a mistake because I think if I had cared more and used it earlier I would have felt better about myself then and consequently feel better about myself now.

Getting perms. Oh my gosh. Again, not a good look for me. What was I thinking? And it was more than one!

Hello and welcome Missis.

I can relate to the over-plucking of the brows too. I just never seem to know when to stop. Just recently i have let them grow and just plucked the underneath ones and boy what a difference it has made. While i will never have Liz Taylors brows, they still look loads better, despite having a few patchy bits and sticky up bits. Why didn't i do this twenty years ago!!

Possibly not coloring my hair black sooner! It's such a great way to get an instant retro look (which is difficult for me, since my hair is very short). I absolutely love it dark! Now I wish I had colored my hair for my wedding... Oh well. :-}
