Children are human beings -- not trophies, pets, or fashion accessories.

I reserve a particular disdain for people whose pets may as well be pieces of furniture — things to be changed out when fashions change, or when they get bored with it.

The law regards my pets as property. But we — the missus and I — have a different take on the matter. We don’t own these animals. We feed them and see to it they get veterinary care (I don’t wish to recall how much that’s come to over the past year or so) and soft, warm places to sleep and lots of attention from their humans. They are living beings. We’ve habituated them to the lives they lead here. It would be unconscionable to take that from them while they still live pretty much pain free and are still taking sustenance. And when that is no longer the case, I’ll surely cry, as I have when my other pets went the way of all things.

There was joke, one of many, doing the corona virus rounds. It ran close to the truth of your point:
"Day 467 at home and the dog is looking at me like: See! This is why I chew the furniture."

I've never quite been able to get a handle on all the different aspects of the CRT "theory" and who believes what. That article, like most I've read on the subject in an honest effort to learn, leaves me puzzled, confused, and with the beginnings of a headache. If someone could break it down into simple terms, I'd be very interested to read it. It seems like it gets political awfully quickly, though, so maybe that's an impossible task.

Too bad we can't just treat folks as equals, until they prove themselves unworthy of such. And if folks (ANY folks) want to act like criminals/thugs/white trash/welfare leeches/whatever other anti-social or anti-civil types they act like, then they shouldn't be surprised that they receive poor treatment from those of us who try to treat people civilly, no matter their race.

Bartender Edit: This is indeed a hot potato in today's world - let's stay away from it further.

I get really tired of the whole current journalistic trend of referring to every possible everything by acronyms, to the point of having to always follow the first reference (TFR) with an acronym in parenthesis (AIP) so they'll know what the hell you're talking about (WTHYTA). Nuts to this (NTT).

Oh, and if hear one more TV sports twerp refer to Major League Baseball as "the MLB," I shall most certainly PV.

Everything seems to get political these days, and most especially with subjects that have absolutely nothing to do with politics. "Hey, man, wanna' grab a burger?" "A burger? A burger??? Burgers don't exist any more. They're all made from plants now! It's all a [insert name of opposing political party] conspiracy to control our minds with artificial fillers made in a secret laboratory under Mount Rushmore!"

I believe the tipping point for me was KFC. This has been a gripe (the acronym overuse)for me for many years.

Oh, brother. Another miracle cure is on the way. Stanford University says this “Superhero Vaccine” will give a “body-wide genetic upgrade” with just one dose. Heart disease, liver disease, and Alzheimer’s are just a few of the areas that will see benefits. They predict it will be widely available in as little as ten years.

I'll wait until the trial programs yield 100% positive results, which should happen about three years after I'm dead. :D

On the plus side, it brought the joy of that internet conspiracy theory that they weren't allowed to reference 'chicken' any more, hence the switch to just KFC, because their "chickens" were genetically engineered mutants with four legs.... I knew someone who believed that for real...
