I was in psychotherapy, back then. So they didn't want me and freed me for basic military service.

I remember the horror of hearing a muzakified Beatles song in an elevator for the first time. I felt like it marked the end of an era. Come to think of it it did.

At least 45 or 50. Hell, 50 years ago was 1970. The Beatles had broken up by then. Buddy Holly had been dead for more than a decade. And Elvis was getting fitted for a larger girdle.

How I remember seeing the 1965 Beatles concert at Shea Stadium. There had been short clips on the news, the concert was in August 1965, it wasn't shown in full in the UK until March 1966. Fifty-five minutes of perpetual screaming and mass hysteria. It makes me smile to think most of those present are grandparents now, some are even great-grand parents. "What did you do when you were young, Grandma?" "I screamed at a Beatles concert, darling!"
Sorry, re-reading this it gives the impression that I saw the live show. I was still at college aged 19.

One of my favorite German phrases! “Schmuecken und schminken” “to put on jewelry and makeup”. Carries a bit of “attitude” with it that English doesn’t quite capture.
BTW, that’s a funny video. I LOVE embarrassing my kids.

Some people just don’t know when to hang ’em up.
Maybe they need the money, so they play the tribal casino circuit. Or maybe they live for the applause, diminished as it might be. I’d think a person would have had his fill of that after a couple-three or four decades, but what would I know about that?
