I have no idea who this sergeant is, except that his name was Emil. I don't see many AR Personnel Amphibious patches in photos.

Thanks for posting those pics Chasseur. Now I have seen proof that guys in the Navy wore white socks with there dress blues:D. This is why I love looking at old photos to see the variety of uniforms and how they were worn. It seems the further from an HQ you got the more 'liberty' was taken in the wearing of uniforms.

Grandfathers

The gent with the standard operating army equipment (the beer can) is my mothers father. Not sure where it was taken but he was serving with the 5th BG/13th AF as a Crew Chief/Jack of All Trades on B-24's.

The other handsome man is my father's dad and this was taken in front of his PB4Y-2 at the Thompson Trophy Races after the war. His plane is in Campbell's 'American Bomber Aircraft B-24 pg. 55. He was the Crew Chief/Plane Captain of this plane but I know he flew side seat in the Navy version of the B-26 as an enlisted pilot.

My grandfather was the unofficial ship's photographer on his destroyer, and took part in many of the major battles. His ship was also one of the two which captured the 'hospital ship' Tachibana Maru. Needless to say, the photo album is pretty amazing.
