WWII in color documentary

Awesome. The happiness of those celebrating (notice the blonde Sailor kissing all the girls as he walks with a cane), was well contrasted with scenes showing the human cost of the war. And the smiling PTO U.S. Soldiers at the end...One of them could have been my father. What our parents' and grandparents' generation went through, we'll never really know.

That clip is from a History Channel program called World War II - The Lost Color Archives that aired in 2000. Good series with a lot of color footage.

The History Channel also ran the series THE COLOR OF WAR which is pretty good. With 17 episodes on five discs there is over 780 minutes of color footge to see. They say it's the most extensive all-color documentary ever produced about the Second World War.
