I know it is a long shot, but I am looking to buy a Pre-30's Fedora/Homburg in size 7 1/8 - 7 1/4, but the older, the better.

My budget at the moment is MAX $245... allthough I would really prefer to stay below that...

Thank you for your time!

Justin

I don't know about pre 30s homburgs, but there are a fair number of post 50s ones available on Ebay most of the time. If you avoid the cheesy wool "gangster" homburgs so common there, I would think you could find a pretty decent quality one, with a little patience.

Justin, if I were you, I would keep an eye on Dinerman's offerings on ebay (the Vintage Haberdashers shop). He has sold some incredible pre-1930s hats in 7 1/4. Recently he had two upbrim fedoras (somewhere between fedora and homburg) made by the Gordon company. I think rlk bought at least one of them. And I don't think the bidding went super-high -- at least, I think the winning bids would have been within your budget.

Thank you much, it's just a bit newer for my tastes! But again, thanks for the lookout!!

bump...

Hi splintercellsz. Let me say, you sir are accumulating some great fedoras.
I wish you success in your pursuit of a great homburg.
There is a Charvet listed on ebay. the item number is 211140133325- Sorry I can't master the photobucket routine and my Daughter is away this weekend.
The charvet looks like it may of been a Homburg that was steamed and then the brim was ironed to give a Fedora look. Just my opinion.
It looks like with a good cleaning and reblock it could be a sleeper.
Happy hunting and best regards.

Justin, just to clarify, are you looking for a homburg or a pre-30's fedora with a rolled brim? There is a difference. Many fedoras in the teens and early 20's had rolled brims and were worn brim up like a homburg.

Here's a couple examples of early fedoras:

1900s Stetson Select Quality UP Brim

1916 Stetson Pace Maker

1920s B Flechet Silver Long Hair

Unfortunately none of these are your size, but it gives you an idea of an early hat that's similar to a homburg.
