Tango Yankee said:If you've ever seen the two-part episode "The Menagerie" you've seen a lot of the first pilot as it was incorporated into the plot. I was fortunate enough to see the first pilot at a science fiction convention in LA in the late '70s.
Jovan said:MrBern: "The Cage" is on the third season box set of Star Trek. Unfortunately, there's not many episodes in the third season that make it completely worth paying that much.
Jovan said:Well, he probably meant figuratively given that they're two different characters. (And any Trekkie knows that. )
Jovan said:I haven't. By the time I found out what station and what time the remastered episodes aired (I swear it was like pulling teeth...), it was too late to see some of the all time greats they syndicated last fall.
Needless to say, I will be reserving the remastered first season on DVD, with or without "The Cage" being on it. (Though I really hope it is eventually, since it was on the original third season set.)

Maj.Nick Danger said:I have always lamented the exclusion of Majel Barrett from the series. She was awesome! She had a sort of comic book heroine look about her that was perfect for a show like Star Trek. I think Jeffrey Hunter was a way better choice as captain of the Enterprise too.

Wish I had that VHS copy.
Senator Jack said:I DO have it! I no longer have a VHS player and I haven't watched it in years, but it was part of the set they released around 84-85, and I believe it does alternate between color and black and white.
Unfortunately Jeffrey Hunter had problems with the management. Or rather, his wife did. It came down to "Jeffrey wants this" etc. and they couldn't work like that on a TV series.Maj. Nick Danger said:I think Jeffrey Hunter was a way better choice as captain of the Enterprise too.
Alas Captain Pike,....we hardly knew ye.Tango Yankee said:Yup...
