Wooden hangers?

Hello all.
Just thinking of an ideal wooden hanger for my/our leather jackets and had a hard time finding good quality ones. Thought I'd reach out to you all and get some input. Currently I use the @tmitchell59 water noodle method which works great, but.... Am I over thinking this and just bored? Lol. Probably. I can get my hands on pretty much any kind of wood out there, exotics included and the idea of sporting a heavy duty hanger specified per jacket would be awesome. Subtle sloping shoulder supports that are wide so not to stress the stitching & taller hooks to allow collars to stand under the closet rod. What else?...

wooden hanger is certainly looking beautiful, if the jacket is hanged in view, but when in the closet wide shouldered plastic coat hanger is more practical, lighter, much cheaper, and perfectly symmetrical on both sides.

I purchased about 20 of these at Walmart from a tip pre my FL days (pre-2002) about $5 each it seems the price is dropping

Plastic hangers with thick, rounded ends. Cheap as chips and last for years (never had one break) Is there any actual advantage to using wooden ones?

Not using plastic for something that doesn't need to be plastic seem to be a pretty good advantage...

I have to say this is the first time i see someone trying to protect nature by promoting plastic, it seems counter productive to me!
Wood is renewable, is a carbon sink as it grows and is biodegradable when you are done using it, to me there are only positives to using wood hangers, and i can't think of a single positive for plastic ones.

If I own these hangers, they do the job and I am not buying new ones (and don't need to), I am not sure that very expensive wooden ones make sense for me in terms of new purchases. What I mean by advantages are whether or not wood hangers might moulder (maybe if they're not varnished/painted- I live mostly in seasonally very humid climates and have seen cheap wood hangers mould a bit), whether wood is better for leather/linings (because I don't know- purely out of interest: if anyone has this kind of micro-information, it'd be geek-niche interesting). My angle here isn't either additional consumption of plastic (I've owned the hangers I use for maybe 20 years) or tree-chopping, particularly. I'd not spend money on wooden hangers and have enough plastic hangers for jackets.

If the 'like trees' comment was taken seriously, I should have put an emoji or something. I don't think the Amazon is being waylaid to hang shirts, etc.

My bad, i thought "I like trees" was really your argument against using wood hangers, it sounded to me like the kind of argument people give against hunting for population control for example ("I like animals") without really knowing much about the subject. What i meant is that you can like trees and understand that there can be a good reason for cutting them, planting them, using them, the same way there can be a good reason to kill a deer.

You're right, in your situation, you are better off not getting new hangers, as that would mean unnecessary extra consumption for little to no gains.
From a purely functional "wood vs plastic" point of view, no i don't think there is anything to gain going from one or the other, other than not adding more plastic to the world if you are starting from 0 hangers, in which case i would always recommend going for wood over plastic.

The real point for wood other than plastic polution IMO is the feel/look, i would rather handle something made from wood than from plastic. And i would rather see all my jackets on nice wood hangers than on plastic ones. But that's just me, i hate plastic and try to have as little as possible around.

Lastly, wood hangers don't have to be "very expensive", the ones i posted above are £2.99 a piece if you order ten!

If I ever killed a deer, I can definitely see a hanger application for the antlers.

I'm fairly minimalist: I don't know what clothing (apart from Aeros) or furniture I've bought new in years. I think that making and mending is the way to go. What I can't stand is the amount of packaging things come in.
