EXTREMELY RARE! FILSON BRIEFCASE IN HORWEEN LEATHER AND RUGGED TWILL
MADE IN THE USA.
MADE IN THE USA.
Measurements:
Length: c. 14.5"
Height: c. 13"
Width: c. 5"
Filson no longer makes this briefcase, and it's becoming increasing hard to find--once people have one they tend to hold on to it!
This briefcase has a simple, elegant, and utterly functional design. It is a classic flapped briefcase, with the top flap being secured to the front of the briefcase by a leather strap and a brass buckle. However, the top of the strap is fixed to the flap by a brass Filson-branded press-stud, so you can easily open the briefcase with one hand, by-passing the buckle. This shows just how well-designed this case is.... as does the fact that the stitching is a lovely forest green which complements the rugged twill beautifully--and can only be seen if you examine the briefcase right at the stitch lines very carefully indeed!
The interior of the briefcase has two compartments. The rear features a sturdy leather strap that you can place over the handles of your wheeled carry-on luggage for travel.
The body of this briefcase is made from Horween leather, from their tannery in Chicago. This is thick, supple, and will develop wonderful graining on the side panels with use. It's also extremely sturdy, and ready to last for decades. The handle is also Horween leather, as is the leather reinforcement band on the top of the briefcase and the original strap.
The briefcase's flap is Filson's Tin Cloth in otter green. The Tin Cloth reappears inside the briefcase, as the main divider between the two compartments.
This briefcase was Made in the USA.
This comes complete with its original shoulder strap in bridle leather, with brass hook attachments.
This briefcase is beginning to age and patina beautifully. The expandable sides are developing beautiful graining, and the front and back of the briefcase are starting to show character with minor scuffs and graining.
This is in Very Good condition..... and extremely rare!
How about $345, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA?
PS: Lots of pictures as this is just so beautiful!
