I would like to find a vintage style flask that would fit into a garter(or that has a garter with it). Preferably not very expensive(its for a prop more than anything). I thought I remember seeing pictures of 1920s ones a long time ago but can't find them now. Thanks for all the help!

I can't help with the flask itself, although I know they make small ones. I can't imagine that a flask would stay in a garter because of the weight, unless the garter was very tight.

There's a thread here about concealable purses though. Check out the garter purse - it has a pocket on it that would probably fit a small flask.

Very good point! I have never tried it with a flask, but I spent several days on a LARP walking around with a Derringer replica in my garter. I had to tighten the garter to the point where I almost cut of all the blodflow to my leg to keep the darn thing in place!

Later, I found out that there are girly, lacy little special-made garter-holsers for Derringers. I would imagine that you would need something like that, only for your flask.

In real life, did girls actually have flaks in there garters? Or is it only a popular myth, coming from old jokes, comics and pictures like the one posted here? (I mean, she is clearly posing with the flask, that is not a real-life picture.)

Do you have an address for the special one for a derringer? My derringer is to heavy for my garter I made for it.

OK I did a little searching and found this site:http://www.juliettewear.com/garters.htm
Really neat gift idea! I think it looks like a stronger than normal garter and a small bag attched. Easy enough to make!

Cute! But as you said, it shouldn't be difficoult to make yourself. All I need is a neat little flask, the ones they used there looks a bit heavy and clumpy.

We had a flask or two around here, from my husband's bagpiping days, and then the other week a friend gave us a couple of commemorative "downtown OKC" flasks that appear nicely slim and curved, for a stocking.
If someone needs a spare, I could possibly be persuaded to part with one.

Here's a picture I had in my files, but I don't know how it stays in place?

Nevermind- someone beat me to it :)
sorry I keep messing up! I tried to rply to Decodence's photo! man~when will I ever "get" this!

Take a really good look at the "flask" as compared to the womans hand as well as the shot glass she's holding as well! It looks as though the "flask" is about the size of her palm of her hand "delicate" it would also appear that the "flask" is thinner than the ones the men wear in their hip pockets commonly called a "pocket flask".Not really knowing, for sure, the history of women "wearing" flasks in their stockings, it would also make sense to me that what they concealed in those flasks wern't the same type of alcohol that you & I drink at present day! remeber Prohabition was in full effect in the flapper days!also there was this stuff called "moonshine" and I can tell you from EXPERIENCE you do not drink MS like we do shots today!a little bit goes a lllllooooooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggggg way! a drop or too would do! so with that having been said it would make perfectly good sense to me that that little "flask" she's pulling out of that garter, could hold enough 'shine to "get the party started!"
ok ladies.....how's the "Ladie Detective's" thoughts on this subject?
