Women's Beaver Hat

I know we've talked about this before. Often you see this hat mistakenly advertised on ebay as a man's "low" top hat. But it is a woman's hat used in business or day-time situations. from about 1900s to 1920 or so Not a hat for evening wear. Anyway, the reason I am posting about t is that I just realized that an extra in the 1931 film "Dracula" is wearing one early in the film.

The manufacturers marketed it as a “silk sailor” hat, definitely silk rather than beaver.

No worries. It's a mistake commonly seen on eBay, with silk hats being labeled by sellers as beaver, when beaver plush hadn't really been used since the 1830s., though nutria plush was used as a silk substitute in the WWI era.

Funny thing is, I know damn well they are silk. It was just a stupid, unthinking mistake.
