Woman wearing Hats

I purchased many hats for my wife over the years and she rejected all. They were small sized vintage (6 7/8) that I picked up cheap and then resold even cheaper! But since I started to make custom hats she has been my model (I had to stop calling her my guinea pig....poor word choice!) as I develop offerings for women I have succeeded in turning her into a 'hat person'. Turns out she loves hats but only those made to suit her not a repurposed men's fedora. For her they are variations on a theme....still a hat but with enough feminine touches to suit her.

She'll love it if you start referring to her as "my muse."

Bummer. I rather like the way most women look in mens' hats, but I completely understand her perspective 'cause I haven't found ONE womens' hat that looks good on me.

It pays to keep her happy, I'm sure!

I refuse to respond to that for fear of recrimination!

Just found this thread. Hope to me more ladies in hats. Here’s my daughter in one of my Brent Black Montes.

I’ve never had the pleasure of either of my daughters ever even trying on any of my hats.
It must be Very, VERY risky to let your daughter wear that beauty, Bill. She looks very at home and happy to be wearing it. And, of course she looks better wearing it than you do! Will you get it back?

Compliments to you and your daughter, Bill, she's a class act in that hat. I guess that you will be hiding that fine Brent now the young lady has taken a shine to it.
If we make enough noise someone might coax Esther back, here's here millinery thread.
She pops up on Instagram every now and then. Also, what ever happened to Harv? I believe Harv and Esther were dating each other sometime back but I haven't heard from Harv forever.

Here they are.

And here's the lady herself, the one who can wear a hat as well as she makes them.

Have you got a hat in your collection that you might describe as your old faithful? Maybe you have more than one like that. Tina and I were at a vintage festival some years ago a big band era affair. A lot of people dressed the part. One of the re-enactors, there in military dress, someone that we know well, had such an "old faithful." Seeing Tina in the vintage style dress that she had made, complimented her and suggested that his hat would look good with her outfit. You should have seen the hat, talk about battered and crumpled. Tina smiled and told him that the hat needed a total restoration. Her comment was meant as a joke, the fellow had not long finished a ground up restoration of his 1940's Harley-Davidson WLA. Our friend agreed and laughingly said that she could have it if she could "restore" it.

She took it back to our hotel room, gave the hat a good brush and found it to be quite clean. The brushing improved the appearance amazingly. Rummaging through her box of tricks she came across a large hat pin, she also found a brooch that she hadn't worn in a while. Her attention now turned to the hat. The brim was trimmed, the crown was folded and crimped, after that she held it over a steaming kettle, goodness knows what it was she was doing when she did that, but when it was finished I didn't recognise it. Nor did the original owner when he saw it the following day. In fact he truly thought that it was a different hat and that she was just teasing him.

It's a shame that I never thought of photographing the hat as it was, but to describe it is easy, it should have looked like the stingy brim, much loved and associated with, Frank Sinatra. It still had the classic crown shape, just. The brim curled in all sorts of odd ways and the hat ribbon had gone slack. Tina wore it the next evening and our friend was right, it did do justice to the lovely dress that she had made even though it no longer had the trilby/fedora appearance.

Your wife is very talented as your many wonderful stories tell us. You should probably keep here around!
