Ideaguy, This particular Sovereign is dated 1945, the felt is heavy and dense but not stiff at all. The ribbon is stained with sweat from the previous owner. He must have used it quite a bit but the sweat band nor the felt have suffered any wear. I don't have the heart to replace the original ribbon and bow. I know how you feel about re-sizing, I seem to be getting a lot of 1/8 and3/8 lately.

Thanks Jerekson, the suit does'nt fit as well as it used to. I need to have it re-tailored. It is blue=gray DB pinstripe with light blue striping.

I'll start by saying that I did an pretty extensive search and found no wish list ... other than a couple in the "powder room" and one in the "golden age"

I thought something strictly for hats would be a good idea and useful for lots of us ...

not just for everyone to come here and express their deepest fur felt wishes ... but for wishes to possibly come true ...

I may have something on your wish list sitting in my hat room in a box never seeing the light of day... I have many hats that I don't wear and some I've even forgotten about and you mentioning something may spark my memory ... and you may have something that I wish to own

I think something where it is all in one place will first get more attention and second be less lonesome and pathetic than those borderline begging posts in classifieds with 147 views and 0 responses

currently my wish list starts here ... and it is very short

pre Stetson Mallory
pre 1950 thin ribbon Borsalino

you may be saying ... yeah , get in line ... but that is my wish list presently

I am 7 1/4 ... 7 3/8 are doable and sometimes 7 1/8 on a rare occasion

what say you ?

I've got a whole six fur felts and there are so many I want
But
If I could only get one more it would be one of those magical hats I've read about
that can be blocked and unblocked, shaped and reshaped at one's whim.
I have no idea where one could be found though, they are probably vintage only.

Well, I am yet to find a Strat. But I have learned that patience and a little eBay OCD pays off. One will come. I have had good luck so far.

And a Stetson 25
and a pre-Stetson Mallory with a nice wide brim with a nice wide brim binding
and that Knox 100...
and all the Daltons in my size!
I will get a Gus Miller - soon. And that's within reach. I'm almost ready...

John sorry about the unfinished post. I am looking for a hat shop on the east coast where I can obtain hats that I can block. Not these new hard already blocked hats. Growing up we block our own soft felt etc hats.
